About the Zelda Game Series:
New to the Zelda series?
Simple answer: it's a video gaming series that has been around since the 1980s. The creator of the series has been Shigeru Miyamoto since the very beginning.
The storyline:
It varies from game to game. The basic idea, though, is the bad guy, Ganondorf, kidnaps the Princess Zelda, and the hero, Link, must come to rescue her by searching for either the pieces of one of the triangles of the Triforce or by searching for the Triforce itself. What? The hero isn't Zelda afterall? No, sorry. The hero is named Link. However, despite this basic storyline mentioned, there are one or two games that do not follow it and attempt to change the tradition.
The popularity:
The series has consistently made the top charts. This isn't necessarily always because the games are higher quality than most, but because not only have the games been around since the beginning, but nearly each game released attempts something new and unique. The first one, for example, broke games out of the linear stratosphere.
The games released:
So, the above listing of games that you can click on to access the guides to are all the games that have been released, correct? No. In the right sidebar you will notice a series of games that have been released. The CDI games are a good example: extremely unpopular and not created by Miyamoto. There are other various examples, some that never did make it to final production. All of them are provided in the Zelda Spin-Offs section for your reading pleasure.
Chronological Order?
No, there is not. There are lots of theories about one, though. Other Zelda websites would happily post up their views and timelines, however, here at MCLoZ, we disprove of posting up anything official on the subject. While there may even be a timeline on the official Zelda website, Miyamoto still had no hand in its organization and was only thought up by the Nintendo representatives who were in charge of the website. There have honestly been three such timelines posted on the site, each one changing the major order. So, until there is a definitive press release, we at MCLoZ say THERE IS NO ZELDA TIMELINE! However, if you read the manuals and what press releases have been released, you could come to these conclusions of in-game connectivity, but nothing beyond that.
