Uhh, TMC walkthru part 2 is up
April 28, 2005, 9:33 PM EST by Darktl
Updates: Yeah, part 2 for TMC is up.

Commentary: Well, uhh, I think its been kinda long since the last one. xD
But, oh well, its already there. Expect another section next week!

And you think my To-Do List has been anymore successful?
April 28, 2005, 6:04 PM EST by Maxine MagicFox
Updates: Link's Infinite List of Torture has been updated. Items 173-184 added by Zelda_freak, Red Fiery, Kathryne Vance, devastator, Grey Siren, supp, Strain, and Draik. ^_^; I'll try to empty my e-mail box some more tonight and update tomorrow morning.

Commentary: ::Reads Dethl's post:: XD To Do List. Ha! I have any better luck. I don't think I've even been able to touch the list I made and posted since I typed it up. If it's not for Z News it's the mail that is forever creeping up behind me and then you Staff Members sending me in your submittions. ^_^ This weekend I'll try to accomplish SOMETHING on that list.

More
April 27, 2005, 6:53 PM EST by Dethl'sShadow
Updates: A guide to the not-so-numerous dojos of The Minish Cap is now availible to read.

Commentary: And, as always, whenever I make a to-do list, I find out about something else that needs doing. So I'm ditching any idea of a to-do list and just doing stuff until there's none left.

Alright, you can stop e-mailing me now!
April 27, 2005, 8:59 AM EST by Maxine MagicFox
Updates: (Update: Three new pictures have been added to the official art gallery.)

As nearly everyone now knows and has constantly been informing me non-stop, Nintendo Power has released some new informationa (and Zelda Universe has the scans). And the EGM scans have been collected.

First, NP's scoop:
- Link does not come from Hyrule. Taoru village is aparantly not a part of the Kingdom of Hyrule, but a neighbour to them. The citizens of Taoru are farmers who earn their Rupees by selling food and animals to Hyrule

- Every year the leaders/mayors of the different villages gather in a large meeting of sort, this is to keep the bond and relationship between them tightly knit. However, this year the Mayor of Taoru can't go, and sends Link instead. This is how Link's adventure gets started.

- Ganon and Zelda are both in this game, but the developers have pointed out that the story of the game is not identical to what has become tradition in previous games.

- Apparantly, the fact that this game takes place after The Wind Waker in the Zelda timeline was not fact, and now Aonuma says that they are not sure when it takes place.

- There is said to be an specific item that will be very important to the flow of the game, but they don't want to reveal what it will be yet.

- According to Eiji Aonuma, they title has not been decided yet. They are pondering on giving it a "mysterious" title which will only make sense during playing the game.

- NP points out that they combat system is very similar to that of The Wind Waker, but Aonuma says that they will/have been further developing the system where the A button "glows" at a certain time to do a counter attack. There is also a new jump attack.

- This game will be larger than all previous Zelda game. The fields and plains will be large, making to horse essential to the gameplay. Buildings will be huge, but there will also be large, empty fields. In short, everything will be larger, because it makes it more realistic, according to Aonuma.

- This time, Nintendo hopes that people don't even have to play the game to understand the choice of the more mature graphics, which was the case with the opposite, more childlike graphics in The Wind Waker.

Aonuma also says that they are aware that there were people who did not play The Wind Waker just because of the cartoon like graphics, and this makes him sad, but they still insist that they were right for the game.

- Link will have to communicate with animals in this new game, however Aonuma does not want to reveal exactly how.

- Apparantly the game is not quite finished yet, and there is still a possibility that Link will have a "sidekick" in the game, which supports Link throughout the course of the game giving information about the various things.

You can view the Nintendo Power magazine scans here:
Page 1, Page 2, Page 3

And finally, EGM's magazine scans, whose information has already been announced:
[Images Removed by demand of Ziff Davis of EGM]

The Link and Zelda arts will be added to the official Art gallery (uh... much cleaner versions will be added). That Zelda picture is just.... awesome... I hope she uses that blade in the game. But then... she wouldn't exactly be Zelda... hrrrrm....

Commentary: Wow! I'm gone for two days thinking that I deserved a small break and that everything else can wait... and I log in today to find... my e-mail box FULL of messages saying "Nintendo Power released new info and screenshots, get them at Ganon's Tower" or "Here's the EGM cover art and that kick @$$ Zelda picture." Even Darktl was in on it. ^_^ Thank you everyone for informing me of this news. It was appreciated and I really got a laugh out of it. I've had one or two reminds in the past but... not the 10-15 I got this time. You guys either have it out for me or you are REALLY excited about this game. Anyways, I have official art to add up as well as an already full box of Oddities, Tortures, and TBZF comments, plus staff submittions. T-T Maybe I really DIDN'T deserve that break.

Zelda Universe seems to be getting eerily lucky lately with news....
April 24, 2005, 12:28 PM EST by Maxine MagicFox
Updates: Posted yesterday, but didn't have the chance to note it here:

The May issue of the UK Magazine "Cube" released new informaiton in a tiny article about the upcoming GCN game tentatively titled "Legend of Zelda". Rumor or true? It certainly seems to match up well with the Spanish magazine's screenshots.

"The storyline of the new Legend of Zelda seems to be a simple case of good versus evil. While the dark of the night has always been home to evil, just recently something has empowered the gouls and the undead of the world to venture into the light; in extreme circumstances, groups of winged demons have been terrorising the farms and villages that line the open plains. Link's mission is to get to the bottom of what's empowering these demons before they completely dominate the land. We're guessing that Ganondorf will have a hand in this one, but there's no sign of him at this early stage."

And as if this wasn't enough, today Zelda Universe reports leaked informaiton from an unreleased article from the EGM magazine. The article supposedly states the following:

- No voice acting.
- No GBA connectivity.
- You can fish.
- Art of Zelda shows her weilding a sword.
- Yes link is rescuing Zelda & Ganon is a villian in the story.
- No official title has been decided yet.
- Combat will be different from Windwaker.
- Chicken Gliding is back.
- In the beginning of the game, Link is a "cowboy". There is also a minigame to teach you how to ride.
- Tauro village impressions, great sense of realism, grand in scale.
- Horseback battles will be plentiful.

True or not? With the previous information it makes everything sound rather believable, which is why I have placed it up in the Zelda News Menu. However, THESE TWO ARE STILL RUMORS! And scans of the EGM article are impending.

Commentary: >_> This is a LOT released in such a short span of time after having several weeks of no news at all. I dunno, but I'm half expecting something to prove wrong. Zelda Universe seems to be getting REALLY lucky as well. Though, granted I don't enjoy ZU all that much, I can't say that even I would accuse Lars of making things up.

As if the stuff below wasn't enough - here's more!
April 22, 2005, 9:58 AM EST by Maxine MagicFox
Updates: For a full translation of the Spanish Magazine article, you can Click Here. The scans they have aren't the greatest but it gets the job done with the text translations.

Commentary: Interesting stuff... interesting stuff...

A Spanish Magazine present Zelda fans with new insight!
April 21, 2005, 4:52 PM EST by Maxine MagicFox
Updates: As reported by Zelda Universe, a Spanish gaming magazine recently published with new screenshots and information based on the new upcoming Legend of Zelda Realistic game for GCN. Inside was also included new previously unknown information regarding the game.

View the Magazine Screenshots (taken from ZU):
Page 1, Page 2, Page 3

Update: Poster was included
Awesome-ness - added to the official art gallery.

The Translated Information (also taken from ZU):
  • Link is 16 years old when the game starts, but they emphasize that will "mature" during the game, whether this is just mentally or physically as well is not clear.
The Village shown in the scans is the very first village in the game, called "Taoru Village".

  • Controls will remain more or less unchanged from The Wind Waker, this includes the return of L-Targeting as well as Auto Jump.

  • Game will be "two to three times as large as Ocarina of Time", with more than 70 hours of total gameplay (estimate, of course).

  • The developers have aimed for a very realistic approach with the water, and there will be an underwater part of the game as well (could indicate the return of another "Water Temple").

  • Eiji Aonuma wanted the graphics for the game to be as refined as possible, which is why they didn't use the graphics from the SpaceWorld 2000 GameCube Tech Demo, featuring Ganon and Link.

  • The amount of mini games in this game will, just as in The Wind Waker, be fairly large, and an example of a mini game is where you have to lead some cows in to a certain area while on your horse back.

  • The Writer of this article got to play three different demos of the game (which are most likely the ones that will be displayed to the public at E3):

    1. The 1st Demo was in Taoru Village, and was an "introduction" for the game, helping them get to know the controls etc.
    2. 2nd Demo was the mini game were you had to lead the herd of cows in to the special area, which the writer pointed out to be a lot of fun.
    3. The 3rd and last Demo was a horseback fighting scene where he fight an armored enemy riding a boar. He had the option to fight either with the sword or by using the bow and arrows.

  • The Article also talked about Four Swords for the DS, which is said to be quite different from Four Swords Adventures, but it will be featuring the same unique gameplay as FSA did.

Commentary: 70 hours... meh... I'll believe it when I see it. I also still doubt the difficulty level that they will put on it. Still the mini games sound fun so far. "Could indicate the return of another 'Water Temple'" .... Do you people think before you say anything? In what Zelda game has there NOT been a water based dungeon? Even LoZ came as close as it could to having one (play your flute and the pond drains to reveal a dungeon). Anyways... ^_^ exciting news.

  • Now, this is very disappointing! For a good reason, though.
April 20, 2005, 9:44 PM EST by Maxine MagicFox
Updates: According to Eurogamer, Nintendo has announced that Revolution, the upcoming Nintendo system, will not be making an appearance this May for the big E3 event. Satoru Iwata has expressed concern that showing the system off in this early stage will enable other corporations to steal his best ideas. This leads one to wonder how revolutionary this system really is??

Commentary: >_> That's disappointing. I was wanting to see it. ^_^ I might actually be able to purchase this one (have to hoard my money in some impassible stash that not even I can touch... irk!), so I was really wanting to see it. I hope Iwata isn't just over-hyping everything. Still... not show casing it in E3 is a very bold move.

    Ba-daaah! New!
    April 18, 2005, 8:08 PM EST by Dethl'sShadow
Updates: There is now a fun Items Guide for the Minish Cap.

Commentary: Now, I will spell out my plans for TMC. First off, I need to get out a guide to "set" Kinstones fusions. Random ones can't be included, since they're, well, random. But anyway. I'll make locations guides for dojos, Fairy Fountains, and item upgrades. I'll make a figurines guide, a transcription of the Swordsman's Newsletters, and...that's all I can think of as far as TMC sidequest items right now. But there may be more.

A tiny update that I've been meaning to do for quite a while now
April 18, 2005, 9:44 AM EST by Maxine MagicFox
Updates: You prolly wouldn't notice unless you are really interested in reading old News Menu reports frequently. The News Menu has now been updated so that it only displays the News gathered so far for 2005. Now ^_^; Before you freak out since it was kinda kewl to see what all things were announced and when, you can view the full page of the News in the Past Updates Archives. It's the one at the top.

Commentary: I didn't realize there were that many reports listed in that tiny window. ^_^ Even with me being gone for quite a while... that's a lot of them. This update will also make it easier for you to read the old updates. Now, I won't update that page frequently... only when the Menu starts getting overfull again. (Maybe at the end of this year.)

Zelda Poll update. Finally, I know. I'm being very slow on updates.
April 16, 2005, 8:20 PM EST by Maxine MagicFox
Updates: For those of you who haven't noticed, the Zelda Poll has been updated asking about your opinion of the new MCLoZ layout. LOL, yeah, I know... kinda late on this. Mostly all I really want from this poll is to be sure that the loading speeds aren't too slow.

Commentary: Yeah, Max is still trying to get the hang of balancing between work and website and everything else that she wants to do with her time. ^_^; It would prolly help if I wasn't going through one of my gaming urges and replaying Kingdom Hearts. Wah! XD Sora-kun is so cute! Anyways... once I beat the game hopefully the splurge will be over and I can get back to more important matters.

A salute and fond farewell to Doh, a member of four years.
April 15, 2005, 4:46 PM EST by Maxine MagicFox
    Updates:

Commentary: Farewell Doh, you will be missed here at MCLoZ. We all loved to read your Investigations and to hear your opinions. Maybe one day your path will cross again here at MCLoZ. If at any time you wish, your spot on the Staff will always be here. Good luck to you where ever you go and may you fare well on your journey's end.

Doh joined us early 2001 as a News Reporter for MCLoZ. During this time, he felt that he would better serve MCLoZ as an editorial writer and proposed the idea behind Doh's Investigations and submitted his first edition November 2001: "What made OoT so successful". The gallery now contains twenty one of all his Investigations in addition to two editions reconsidering the past and his final farewell. They will always be displayed here at MCLoZ. Thank you for your time and effort, Doh.

It's going to be strange not to see your name up on the Staff list. I think I will make a section for "Old Staff Members" since it would be a crime to no longer list you after so many loyal years. I'm going to miss you at MCLoZ, Doh, though I look forward to our future IM conversations. Yeah, I kinda felt your leave deserved a minor tribute.

The final Investigation is here! Time to say goodbye...
April 15, 2005, 4:11 PM EST by Doh
Updates: Well, here it is, the end of my Investigations has made its appearance. An April 2005 Issue of Doh's Investigations is now up for all your reading pleasure (entitled Doh's Investigations - Overview (Part 2)) and is a continuation of March's Investigation, reviewing most of the past Issues and seeing where I went wrong and where I could have improved.
There is also a little goodbye message that you should all check out. The End of the Investigations - A Goodbye and The One's that got away, is a little message from me thanking everyone and saying my last goodbyes, it also shows off a few Investigations that never made it.

Commentary: I don't know how many times I can say goodbye, I said bye in my little message (that can be found from the Investigations main page) and now I must be saying bye here. It's strange how time flies, the Investigations were started in 2001 and I still remember sitting down at school trying to work out why I was writing the article in the first place and where I should find a home for it. It's now 2005 and it's been an interesting journing between the closures and the gaps in Investigations due to school work. It's been fun and I'll probably miss doing it, but it's time to move on to different things.
Of course I'm not going to just dissapear, I'll still check up on MCLoZ often, seeing how everything is going.
So, this is Doh signing off for good. Take care everyone, and thanks! Bye!

Why I don't just save this for tomorrow is beyond me. Too sensible.
April 11, 2005, 4:49 PM EST by Maxine MagicFox
Updates: New Fan Fiction posted!! w00t! Check out Arthur McGinnis' The Legend of Zelda: AvP fan fiction story. ::Takes a deep breathe and then collapses::

Commentary: I'm so ready to get it out of my mailbox that the idea of saving it for an update for tomorrow in case I can't get anything up is just way too sensible. Might be best in that way since it will only continue to encourage me to do something else. Meh... in that note, I guess I better get started on Doh's last Investigation.

So things didn't really go as planned... thank my story for that.
April 11, 2005, 2:41 PM EST by Maxine MagicFox
Updates: Ok, I have cleaned up my mailbox. There are now only four things in my mailbox (two staff submittions, a fan fiction, and a list of LttP names that I have to go through yet). The Beta Zelda Files - Comments by Fans: *MM File #5 by Mario/Zelda Gamer. ~ Zelda Secrets and Oddities - Peculiar Game Glitches *OoT: "Wall Color Glitch" and "Is it REALLY Quicksand?" by Grey Siren | TWW: "Blue Underground" also by Grey Siren. ~ Link's Infinite List of Torture *Items #169-172 by Zelda master, Dark-linkX, and zeldafan.

Commentary: Ok... more up tomorrow after work. Hopefully it will be that fan fiction story that has been sitting in there for quite a while now.

An Important Notice: When submitting Zelda Oddities and Link Torture items PLEASE be sure to check that THEY ARE NOT already placed up there. I do not want repeats on either pages. No more "let the piggy hurt you" for TWW and so on. I had WAY too many repeats this time in my mailbox. That's rather annoying since it means double the time since I have to e-mail you back the rejection slips.

Well, anyways, thank you everyone... >_> Now maybe I should go hit that fan fiction since I've got something up and have a little more spare time. ^_^; Oh, yeah... I know I said I would get caught up during my break but... meh... aspiring author got sidetracked with her novel and then reading Brian Jacques Loamhedge that she recently purchased. I'm also going to lug my story with me to work. I get a 30 minute break ... might as well spend it doing something constructive. 'Sides, I work better under pressure. My mind doesn't get the chance to wander.

Three day break!! Good my feet are about to abandon me.
April 8, 2005, 9:43 PM EST by Maxine MagicFox
Updates: Fixed some errors in the design of the site and actually kept an "error" (after re-coding it so it wasn't an error). The selection bars for the sections were suppose to be a few pixels over to the left, however, after comparing to this version and the one I had, I decided to keep them as seen. Also fixed an error in the News Menu that made the text look as if it were riding the left border line.

Commentary: Maxine gets a three day break! w00t! Anyways, I'm going to use this time to get my e-mail firmly squared away. I have staff submitions cramped in as well as left over fan submittions and plenty of Link Tortures and Zelda Oddities. Those who have e-mailed me, don't hate me. ^_^ I'm doing my best. MagicFox is a whimp when it comes to manual labor and I'm getting a crash course. -_- I was so busy today that I didn't even noticed the painful blisters that have formed on my feet.

Pass around the salt shaker! We have rumors from strange sources.
April 6, 2005, 6:16 PM EST by Maxine MagicFox
Updates: We have two rumors today. First, from GameGeek, they have announced that Nintendo has revealed the name of the game and the release date for the US. The Legend of Zelda: The Realm of Hyrule, due for September 27th. How reliable is this site?

And for the second from Spong.com, a VERY unreliable source as stated by ... well... actually all Zelda sites that are posting this rumor. Haha. Either way, the tell us that three versions of the Zelda Realistic game will be released. A pre-order bonus disc will be released with possibly three different versions of the game.

Commentary: I'm not sure I believe either one, but TRoH does sound at least a little more convincing than Spong's story. ::Blinks:: you get a disc with three different versions of the game before you even get the game itself. WHAT?!

In other news... >_> Don't ask about work. I hate my job ^_^ There. That's said. And I'm not going to bore you and all other Zelda fans with the rediculous details. E-mail and ask me if you really ARE that interested. I don't mind letting out some steam. Not at ALL. I need to rant right now. There, that's my warning to you. Unless you want a full blown MagicFox rant, do NOT ask me how my job went.

I hoped, but I didn't dare believe it! And especially with my original idea.
April 5, 2005, 6:01 PM EST by Maxine MagicFox
Updates: Wooohooo!! How do you like it? Ok, granted, there's still one or two kinks. I think I edited all the documents I needed. It's not a "lot" of documents, just finding them all. Hahaha. I'm also worried about loading times. PLEASE! If the loading is still too slow, tell me. Version 8.0 is still on my harddrive and I have no problem reloading it to fix/forget this design. Tomorrow/later/whenever I will prolly get a poll up asking everyone's opinions.

Commentary: I hope it looks nice. I wasn't actually going to release it today. I wanted to go through a few more times and be a little more prepared for the actual "release" but... as I'm doing it I started thinking... "MagicFox, IT'S DONE! You're overkilling it. Just load the darn thing up already and go with the flow. It will be easier to spot the mistakes on the site than in documents, anyways."

^_^ I'm rather proud of this design. I know I said I wouldn't change my design... but... ideas nag.... and I have ALWAYS wanted a full game bar. I got inspire by a few sites, and decided to take the plunge. It wasn't actually a difficult design to make. Tedious, but not difficult. ^_^ Two week design, to be honest.

And an important mention and thanks goes out to my youngest sister who I will call Eve on the net. ^_^ Over the weeks when I was choosing and cutting the images, she was over my shoulder saying "no! choose this one! I promise it will look better!" She too got a big thrill when she finally saw it all complete in coding. <_< Though... she didn't have to endure the hardwork to create it. :P LOL. ^_^ Her fave image is the LoZ Realistic one (the one she also titled "Killage spree" in the screenshot gallery.) o_O I swear, I thought she was going to kill me when I almost thought of doing another image. Hahaha.

No! No, I haven't ditched you. I'm working on something special!!
April 5, 2005, 1:03 PM EST by Maxine MagicFox
Updates: *None... until surprise is finished... maybe... by end of week if not sooner.

Commentary: My e-mail is piling up and I've got stuff left over from last month yet including staff applications, many I haven't even sent a "yes I got this" to. >_< I'm sorry!! I'm just working on something that's consuming most of my time since I'm in a rush to get it done before work consumes the better half of my life. Anyways, ^_^ I start work tomorrow at from 9-4. >_> Max has to wear a hat... ::glares at it:: I hate hats. Ok, granted it's only a visor, but that just makes it worse. I'm wearing half a hat. ^_^;; I better stop complaining because I know, as bad as I have it, there's always someone else out there who has it ten times worse and is laughing at me... o_O or glaring offensively... ^_^;; And I will do my best not to frequently indulge you with the tales of my trials and tribulations on here. ... I'll do my best...

Wish me lots of luck, everyone. Anyways, a quick update for you.
April 1, 2005, 8:57 AM EST by Maxine MagicFox
Updates: ^_^; Silly me, I did have an update ready to go for today. Anyways, I'll quickly put it up and rush away to get ready for my job interview. Today's update: A new monthly Anime and Manga Review. Plus the update archives have been updated.

Commentary: This month's is about my favorite shojo manga series. Hahaha, ok, I know most of you who come to MCLoZ are guys. Don't worry, I'll make it up to you all by doing a shounen. ^_^ But, I'm sure that a few guys might still enjoy Angel Sanctuary. ::Shrugs:: Hahaha.

    ------

Edit: Well, I got a job now. Orientation is Tuesday and I start Wednesday. Guess what - that means updates are going to start becoming... scarcer... ^_^ But I'll do my best!

o_O Oro... o_o Gak! ... >_< No! >_> Today is April Fool's... Max forgot!! *Sniffle* She... has no prank set up!! Truth is, I kept meaning to do it and even alluded to needing to do something in the past updates. But... with getting a job, it completely slipped my mind to finish it. ::Shrugs:: *Sigh* -_- That sucks! Guess I'll wait for next year.
