I should check in, huh?

December 30, 2006, 12:03 PM EST by Maxine MagicFox

I guess I really should check in, huh? Before you guys start worrying that I left again or something. Fear not! I have not left. Actually, I'm still very much doing my duty for MCLoZ. Just give me about another week (or less, I dunno) and I will return with LOTS of updates to come.

What am I doing that's taken me away from my lovely website. How does playing the new Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess sound? XD *Squeeee* I GOT IT! I got it for Xmas and it is just, for lack of better words, amazing.

I feared the realistic style would take away from the parts that I always enjoyed - the cartoonish kind of aspect. I was dead wrong. While the game has that realism, there are times that the game plays out like one of my belove animes.

o_o Even more... this game is so friggen' huge! -_- I'm going to have the time of my life just trying to make up guides for this game about where to find this and that.

I am up to the fifth dungeon and so far my favorite dungeon would have to be the fourth one because of the item Link received. However, this fifth dungeon is so unique that it might top it.

Another key point to mention: difficulty. I would say that it is exactly on par with OoT's difficulty, if not slightly harder. The puzzles are as unique as the few that we got to experience in MM.

I hate to say it, but I think a game has finally defeated my LttP love. *Pouts* It's going to be strange not saying that my favorite Zelda game is LttP. It's been my favorite for the last nine years.

Does the game bring Zelda back above Kingdom Hearts? ... I'm not ready to answer this one just yet.

Still need to make those avatars...

December 20, 2006, 7:09 AM EST by Maxine MagicFox

Today's Updates: The Adventure of Link section is complete. I didn't want to announce it until I made some new avatars, but a serious illness has greatly struck my will to be online, and when I do get online it's over at the forums. Aww well...

In the Twilight Princess section, I have also placed a temporary link to IGN's walkthrough. One day we'll have our own, but this will have to do for right now.

I swear, the next time you see me, it's going to be announcing new avatars.

Good Morning, Everyone!

December 15, 2006, 7:27 AM EST by Maxine MagicFox

Today's Updates: For starters we have more Torture items for Link's Infinite List of Torture! Items 261-262 were both contributed by Penguin dude.

But, that's not all. We also have Zelda Secrets and Oddities!
- Peculiar Glitches: MM: "Suicidal Boss" by Penguin dude, and TWW: "Walking On Air" by johnathan, .
- Unusual Tips and Tricks: MM: "Death From Above" by Penguin dude.

Remember, contributors, I do not take repeats on these pages. PLEASE be sure to check to see if a page has the item you wish to contribute already listed. I had to throw quite a few of them out because of that this time. -_- It was very disappointing. And please try to watch grammar and spelling.

Reminder: We are taking Oddities and Torture Items for the Twilight Princess game! If you have anything, feel free to submit it. However, if it contains a spoiler - PLEASE MARK IT!! I swear, I will call you several kinds of idiot if you ruin the game for me. You will NOT be dealing with a happy vixen.

And that's that. First thing on my to-do list is to make more avatars. Then, I'm going to start working on getting some more sections up onto the site that need to be added.

Take care, everyone!

Interesting Fact #2: The Zelda Secrets and Oddities page was inspired after a user submitted yet another question about the Message in a Bottle in OoT. It never made it up onto the page, but I asked the question myself when I created the page. Honestly, it was only suppose to be a simple collection of strange things we noticed in the games that never really appear on any other site and we have no where else to put them. o_o My page really grew!

Interesting Fact #3: The Beta Zelda Files was inspired off of another site, now long gone, who had images posted and random things to say below those pictures. I liked the section so much, that I decided to do my own variation with A LOT MORE! Zelda Power (also long gone) then instilled the idea further when they managed to get an answer as to what one of the images was. So, I edited the captions from smart comments, to actual real information on where and when the image came from and what it might be of.

Interesting Fact #4: Do you realize some people STILL think I'm a guy? I have been working on this site since I was 15 and my original identity was Max MagicFox, but when I kept being refered to as a guy, I changed it to Maxine, hoping to clear the waters. Forget it, nothing has really worked, though, thankfully, players are more open to girls being gamers as well these days. Seven years ago, it was rare to hear about girls playing games and even more rare to hear that they had started their own website. As for, what name do you call me by, I have been given several names over the years. Call me MagicFox, call me Maxine, Max, or Madam Maxine is common. I prefer Max-sama. Maxine-dono has been used as well. Just... if you use MagicFox, just note that it is ONE word and the F is CAPITALIZED!!

Interesting Fact #5: Did you realize there is an "s" at the end of "Legend" in the site's name? It's Midnight Castle's Legends of Zelda, but for some reason, people forget that darned "s" at the end of "Legend".

One thing now off the list!

December 14, 2006, 1:58 PM EST by Maxine MagicFox

Today's Updates: w00t!! The Legend of Zelda section is now complete! All page sections are now up and ready to be read and viewed in the new design.

There is one thing I would like to note: the List of Items is really just a stand in. You will notice they are still wrapped in a black background. I need to go through and change that just yet and I want to create a slightly different design for those pages. But, for right now, this will do. My major priority is just trying to get all of the other pages up.

Don't forget!! The Forums are now open! XD Be sure to go over there and visit. I have to work from 3-7 today, but I assure you that I will be back at around 8, ready to welcome and chat with you guys. And - HEY! - if you aren't sure you want to sign up just yet, we have a Guess Forums set up just for you. Sign in anonymously and post about anything that you want.

Forums Re-Open Tomorrow!

December 13, 2006, 9:14 AM EST by Maxine MagicFox

First thing's first: FORUMS RE-OPEN TOMORROW!!

That's right, everything is finally complete. ... Sorta... I actually don't have any rank titles just yet. XD So... just go in and post for the heck of it, I guess (isn't that what you are suppose to do anyhow?)

Saddly, one of the things you may note is that the forums and the gallery still remain seperate to one another. I was not able to hook them up. Why? I would have to lose all that pretty Fan-Art o_o and my coppermine users would have to re-register and re-post and and and and it just wasn't worth it. T-T *sniffle*

Anyways, for those that do not like the current design of the forums, you have the opportunity to change back to the old style in your profile after you have registered. PLEASE observe the red notice in the registration process. It is EXTREMELY important.

Ok, and that brings me to the last item:

Only one user reported problems with this (thanks Goldenhero82) but it seems that in the process of tampering with things in the Image Gallery, somehow the quotas got reset. So it was at a much lower percentage - no wait, there was a percentage. There should be NO quota to how much you can load up onto the forums. NONE!! NADA!! You can load 50000 items and I wouldn't care (my host would maybe.... XD)

And remember, contribute images that I do not have in the main image gallery. They can be Twilight Princess related, or as far back as Adventure of Link screenshots. You also do not have to be registered to load up your images to this particular gallery or The Beta Zelda images contributions. You can load them up and I will approve them.

Again, I am also looking for someone with coppermine experience to help me in the administration and building of these galleries. If you are interested, please e-mail me (my e-mail is below the subject of every post - just click my name).

Phantom Hourglass & next Wii game

December 12, 2006, 10:05 AM EST by Maxine MagicFox

According to Joystiq, the newest issue of Game Informer mentions the next Zelda installment for the Wii has been has been "deep in development for around a year."

... Anyone surprised? I think this just goes without saying.

But, the magazine also mentions that Phantom Hourglass has now been delayed until October 2007. (Finally! I have a release date for this game. I couldn't find one anywhere. So, honestly, this doesn't feel like a "delay" to me since I didn't know what its initial due date was anyways.)

GCN TP Release Tomorrow!

December 12, 2006, 9:50 AM EST by Maxine MagicFox

Don't forget, kids, tomorrow, December 13th, Twilight Princess releases for the Nintendo Gamecube (in the USA). Just for those of us who are completely unfortunate and far too broke to be able to purchase that sweet-looking, beautiful, shiny, new Nintendo Wii console.

I could run off and cry.

And now I have to shovel the "oh-so-NOT-subtle" hints towards my parents and siblings that this is the game I REALLY want for Xmas.

-_- What's a gamer to do...

A-not-so surprising turn of events

December 12, 2006, 9:49 AM EST by Maxine MagicFox

Nintendo is being sued by a California-based Interlink electronics company. According to an article posted on IGN December 8th, the company is sueing Nintendo for a a remote-design they had copyrighted that sounds similar to that of the Wii's controller.

The company is demanding that Nintendo cease the copyright violation and take the Wii off the market. The company is also demanding to be re-embersed three times what the damages have been assessed.

The copyright refers to a February 2005 patent which describes a device called a Trigger Operated Electronic Device. It is a "trigger operated device in the nature of a pointing device for use with an electronic system such as a computer."

Thoughts:
*Rolls eyes* God, save me from the idiots. I'm going to assume this case will just be settled and that will be the end of it.

A "trigger operated device in the nature of a pointing device for use with an electronic system such as a computer".... That is so freakin' ambigious it's pathetic. I think if they had filed such a patent earlier, they'd have tried this lawsuit out on the DVD remote, too. How about a TV remote? A Playstation remote? MY ROTATING-FAN REMOTE!! Seriously, I looked at the user's manual for that and I swear I was reading a computer operator's manual.

I really want more of the full details on that patent.

I'll make more avatars tomorrow

December 9, 2006, 4:29 PM EST by Maxine MagicFox

Today's Updates: In the Legends of Zelda section, the Potion Shops and Door Repair locations have been re-added back up.

*Sigh* One at a time, I suppose, LOL.

Anyways, there's one thing I'm wanting to try with the updates design (something you really won't notice in the end, but might make things easier for me and future staff). I will be done a little bit later today with it. Forgive any "test" posts that might come up or anything that goes... wrong o_O... LOL.

*Edit* The new style edits have been implemented.

Calling all MCLoZ members!

December 6, 2006, 6:55 AM EST by Maxine MagicFox

MCLoZ has not been updated for the last year. There are A LOT of things that have been released over that one year span that MCLoZ is now missing. Most of it having to do with images! Fortunately, most of YOU guys probably have them on your computers already!

So, here is the MagicFox challenged! POST THEM in the Image Gallery! Go over there, make an account, choose to upload an image (under that @ symbol), get it off your harddrive or provide its url and add it to the gallery called "Image Contributions"!

IT'S THAT EASY!!

And it would help SO MUCH! And best part is, your name is attached to it no matter what I do so you will always get full credit for it, and I will also add your name up here and personally thank you if I decide to move it into one of the more formal galleries.

XD SO, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?! This is your big chance to help MCLoZ! The gallery takes jpg, gif, png, bmp, and mov! That's right, movies, too! See a trailer that is not in the movie gallery section of our site? Post it up there and I'll move it to the page!

Besides, think about it. After that, you can create your own album on the gallery and post your own fan art and other Zelda images that you want to display in there. We aren't picky, and we don't censor unless it's pornographic. ~_^ It's a great way to have fun and to throw out your name.

Four Swords Adventures Defeated!

December 5, 2006, 11:12 PM EST by Maxine MagicFox

Today's updates include items #252-260 added to Link's Infinite List of Torture page by Lil' Wink Kokiri, Penguin dude, Skinny Ganon, M.A.L., and miforever. Thanks, guys!

Interesting MCLoZ fact #1: Link's Infinite List of Torture was originally intended as an inside joke amongst the MCLoZ staff. When conversing via e-mail with one of my staff members, the topic of making Link suffer in OoT came up. We discussed everything from the Skullula family in Kakariko, to swan diving into a rock from atop the waterfall in Zora's Hall. The next day I posted the make-shift page as an in-joke. I didn't expect it to get this far! That's why you will note that at first LILoT only took OoT submittions!

So, tonight I actually did something that I've been meaning to do. I sat down with my younger sister and together we finished the last stage in FSA. It needed done. Ever since I picked up KH2, I've become completely useless in Zelda, but I felt that I had better re-hone my skilz if I'm going to take this roudy community on.

*Pouts* Everyone is talking about Twilight Princess and the new Wii system. Max WANTS!! However, I have made my mother write down the GCN's release date in her planner with strict orders that she will DIE horribly and painfully if she fails to get it for me. If she fails, I'm afraid I'm out of luck until February. Next semester starts in third week in January and I will be so broke paying for the tuition my loans do not cover and then paying for my books.

Still! It's for a good cause! One day I might find myself playing the next generation console behind closed doors before any of you pathetic minions do. MWHAHAHAHA!! >:] And with that thought, I venture onward! @_@ I have an english essay rough draft to type up that is due tomorrow. And finals to study for next week. x_x I'm dreading my Journalism final. I completely bombed the test on Libel. *Pouts* Max does not make 79%!!

On another site note... I need to make more avatars for these updates.... I only made a few and it's a lot few too less. When trying to get the site together, somehow those graphics just fell on the backburner.

Forum Re-Opening Proposed Date

December 4, 2006, 6:57 AM EST by Maxine MagicFox

So, to those of you who are really anxious to find out, I have decided on a proposed launch date for the MCLoZ Forums. If you've been over there you've probably seen the steady progress the forums have made - and they aren't complete. Not yet, anyways. I still have a LOT of work to do on them.

So, here's the planned launch dates. Either the week of the 18th or the week of Xmas. If both of those fall through then you aren't getting it until the new year arrives.

^_^; Next week is finals so I've got a lot of schoolwork ahead of me just yet. Hehehe, please forgive the lack of updates so early in MCLoZ's launch. ~_^ I promise when I get the chance I will make up for it all ASAP.

And keep sending in the Link Torture Items and send in any possible Zelda Secrets and Oddities you might have lieing around. Anything at all! And be sure to head over to our large media gallery and submit your fan art work. It's Xmas time so I want to see a lot of Links dressed up in Santa outfits. XD

First update provided by a fan

December 2, 2006, 6:31 PM EST by Maxine MagicFox

Hehe, I've already gotten quite a few e-mails and a couple of Link Torture Items. w00t! However, I won't post those up until either I've got a few or after a week of sitting in my mailbox. Or something... I haven't figured it out just yet.

Anyways, our first update to MCLoZ comes from a fan. Actually, a user on our Media Gallery. In his Fan-Art album he posted up scanned images of his newest Twilight Princess purchase, and he agreed to allow me to move them over to the Twilight Princess gallery. Because of it, I was also able to clean up the Twilight Princess section of the site and have it up to date now with the Game Information stuff all filled in and links provided to the game sections. So, just pop over there and enjoy.

Much thanks goes out to our gallery user goldenhero82, who might I add is a wonderful fan-artist. <3 I love his images of TMC Link.

IGN to write two Zelda comics?

December 2, 2006, 4:24 PM EST by Maxine MagicFox

IGN is currently taking recommendations from its readers for its proposed comic project. The comic project entails writing two comic books based on none other than the Zelda series itself.

The book plan (quoted from IGN):

Book One: The Legend of Zelda: Original Adventure

  • Concept: Fresh Zelda storyline, exclusive to comics
  • Writer: Greg Pak
  • Artist: Joe Madureira
  • Book Frequency/Format: Monthly
Book Two: Tales of Hyrule
  • Concept: Collections covering each Zelda videogame installment
  • Writer: Bill Willingham
  • Artist: Various (Determined by story subject matter)
  • Book Frequency/Format: Graphic Novels (Quarterly)
The story will be completely fresh and new, but, as stated by IGN, will remain true to the Zelda series. The writer Greg Pak is famous for his Marvel Comics epic "Planet Hulk". The artis Joe Madureira has appeared in Marvel writer's Jeph Loeb's "Ultimates" vol 3.

The grand return of MCLoZ!

November 29, 2006, 8:44 PM EST by Maxine MagicFox

The Return

Welcome, my friends, welcome back to MCLoZ. New and improved! Kyaaa! I'm so psyched to be working once again on my beloved site. My name, if you don't know me, is Maxine MagicFox (or just Max is fine). I'm the creator, designer, and webmaster of MCLoZ.

This is the redesign of MCLoZ. Lots of stuff. Now, I know, TP is just released. WHY ISN'T IT A TP DESIGN?! Or at least realistic, right? Sorry, while I know OoT is a splendid game, as I'm sure TP will be, for me, Zelda has always been about feeding that Fantasy for the Inner-child. I like the cartoonish, young child on quest stuff. Don't like it? I'm sure another site will satisfy your taste for realism.

Now, I'm going to quell a quick rumor before I get started about the site itself. Did I lose interest in Zelda and that's why I closed my site? No. Did I lose interest and want to start a KH website? ... Half true. Do I like KH over Zelda? HECK YEAH!! I stopped working on MCLoZ for no better reason than I just got bored with it. After that, I fell so deeply in love with the KH games that I thought about starting a KH site. However, I didn't bother. But, when ZE reopened with a new design I felt like making SOME kind of design, thinking of just passing off over to a friend. But... I MISSED WORKING ON A SITE! I loved working on the new design. And this is the end result and now, I will set aside my top love of KH and revisit my beloved Zelda series.

Oh, and one last thing >_< sorry! PLEASE BE PATIENT WITH UPDATES. I'm in college and am being very burdened. x_x especially with finals in the next two weeks. Things are going to be slow for a while... ok maybe forever LOL. What is my major? Journalism right now. I'm hoping to one day get on the staff of a gaming magazine with every intent of maybe one day owning my own gaming magazine company. >:] Beware Nintendo Power!! MWHAHAHAA. LOL. But, I'm still learning. Need to get through school first. Oh... *sigh* because there will be people who will ask: I am female, 22, and live in Pennsylvania, USA. :P There, that's my bio. Now, go away!

What's New?

The design of course! It is now encoded in CSS AND is compatible with FireFox and IE (there are slight TINY differences, so FireFox is the top preference). It is also increased to a 1024x768.

Everything on my site MOVES. XD I love it! MOVE! SPIN! CHANGE! That goes for the E-1, E-2, and E-3 images above. Click them! The top image changes. This is our event image, which will display events from nintendo, mostly Zelda related, but once in a while something different might make it up there depending on my mood. Advertisements probably, as well.

Next, the release dates! In the rollovers to the right in the game guides section you will notice the release dates are displayed. More importantly, if you look under PH you will see "Upcoming". Need quick information on release dates for USA? Find it there! This information will also be displayed in the main image under all game sections. For instance, you can find the GCN release of TP in its image (but again, USA date only).

Next, the Zelda Info Center! There will be displayed headlines for the last six Zelda news entries. So, only want to bookmark the Zelda Oddities section of the site and not worry about visiting the main page? That's fine! You'll never miss a thing as long as you pay attention to those items.

Forums are NOT set up, yet, but if you visit them now and again you might see them online, but I've got a lot of work to do from color scheme (possible change) to other set ups. PLEASE DO NOT SIGN UP.

The Media Gallery IS working perfectly, though - WITH a new design. If you are having problems viewing it, make sure to delete your cookies and try viewing the site again. If you are still having problems, PLEASE e-mail me at webmaster@mcloz.net.

What's Missing?

*Pouts* Most of the gaming guides and... HALF THE SITE. The trouble with deadlines is that we can never quite reach them. I wanted the site opened, I promised it, and I met that promise... at the loss of not having everything ready. Most pages you will get a "MCLoZ Apology - Ouch!" page. If you get our Lost 404 page, however, PLEASE notify me. That's not suppose to be there. Same goes with images or midis or movies or any other broken files. Most of the Legend of Zelda: A Hyrule Adventure are placed up, but not completely. I will be going down the list so please be patient and I am working as fast and as hard as I can.

Staffing Needs

So, obviously, I'm now searching for staff members. FIRST: I need a TP walkthrough. ANYONE can give me this and you will be credited. I'm not being picky. Here's an extra deal. Provide me with one I like, and if you own a Zelda site, I will give you affiliation without requirements for 3 months and then all I ask to keep you on the list is that you reach a minimum of 2 updates a week.

After that, I just want at least two staff members who will work on the various sections writing up gaming strategies for any and all game sections. MCLoZ is SPECIAL and UNIQUE. While most sites specialize in articles, WE specialize in the how-and-where-to's. If its in the game we have directions on how to get there!

Next, an image collector. Besides its many where to finds, you will see how many images we have here on MCLoZ. However, someone needs to collect these images. The image collector will be provided with ROMs and EMUs to collect these images. You are not expected to be able to get N64 or Wii images, but if you can - YOU A VERY WELCOME ON MY STAFF.

Next, an Image Gallery moderator! While these other positions do not have any experience requirements, I'm afraid this position does. You MUST be familiar with how to work Coppermine. You will be expected to Moderate the comments and the image placements.

Accepting and Not Accepting

Right now we are NOT accepting Fan-Fictions! NO NO NO NO NO!! STOP SENDING THEM! I'm deleting them. Not even looking or replying!

I "am" accepting affiliation, but will be VERY slow to respond back, same with staffing. I have 9 affiliates right now. I have slots opened for 20. So, that's 11 spots. Impress me people ~_^.

Ok. That's that for now, I think... XD Looking forward to providing you with the greatest Zelda news and strategies available.
