All systems ready, Captain! They'll never suspect a thing - MWHAHAHA!
February 28, 2005, 12:39 PM EST by Maxine MagicFox
Updates: Today's updates are somewhat minor. I added links to all the Z Game pages that link to the Midi Gallery page and jump to that game's section. ~ The only other thing is I updated the Mainstream Zelda Game page. It now covers the current history of The Minish Cap and Zelda Realistic. ~ The next few updates will probably be me getting my art and screenshot galleries on those two games caught up. At least for Zelda Realistic.

Commentary: Well, everything is set up for tomorrow's changes. I'm not too sure if everyone's going to like them, or if they'll be all that dramatic for some of you. Oh well, I tried. ^_^ I think they are good changes, or at least will keep me amused, though I am sadden by one of the changes but it's for the best. Ok, I'm just being evil, so I'll stop now. Well, I'm going now, a few more things to do and I want to get started on tomorrow's update so I can post it up early.

Zelda homage or copyright infringement?
February 25, 2005, 3:03 PM EST by Maxine MagicFox
Updates: According to Gamastura, Nintendo has sent a rather stern warning to a company named Webzen, addressing the characters in an upcoming South Korean PC game entitled Wiki. In the presentation of this game, the characters were incredibly similar to The Wind Waker. However, according to a Webzen spokesperson, the graphics are nothing but pure coincidence, and that in fact the main character is nothing more than an avatar created by the player in their gaming world.

"The number of variables [for hairstyles, clothes and facial features] are in the tens of thousands," said Webzen's spokesperson Choi Hyun-woo in an interview with Korean newspaper JoongAng Daily, also commenting: "We are still in the middle of developing the game, which will begin closed testing services in December."

You can find a screenshot of the game on Gamasutra or visit this Korean Website provided by Zelda Legends for even more comparisons.

Commentary: Hrrrrm... I didn't think this warranted enough importance to be included in the Zelda News Menu, however, it's still very interesting. If it's only an avatar thing, personally, I say, they are innocent and probably nothing more than a little Zelda homage. Still... the Wiki logo is going perhaps a little bit too far... Looks like a cute game, though, despite the similarities.

So, there is a Sci-Fi program that I can enjoy
February 25, 2005, 1:06 PM EST by Maxine MagicFox
Updates: A few updates. Most of my time the last few days has been getting a few things... prepared. On the first a lot of things are going to happen simultaneously. o_O And I'm not sure everyone's going to like all of the changes. *Sigh*

Anyways: I have added up a page with the list of midis. I've gotten a few requests to have the midi list outside of the player. These midis will not load up in any program but your own and you can instantly save them by right clicking. Plus, I numbered them all. ^_^ I just want to make sure you believe me when I say what a large collection I have (Ok, and I just like to show off).

Zelda Secrets and Oddities - Peculiar Game Glitches: OoT MQ: "Epona is Trapped!" by Jinkondorf. ~ Unusual Tips and Tricks: OoT: "A Stalchild for Five" by red-headed wonder ~ Strange Observations: TMC: "Hat Trick" by link's helper. ~ Then for Link's Infinite List of Torture: Items 161-163 by Jinkondorf and Chaotic.

Commentary: Science fiction has never been one of my favorite genres. I've read dictionaries, auto repair books, biographics, historical fiction, fantasy, mystery - just about all of it. But when I picked up my first sci-fi novel, I was dulled to death and my eyes got a work out rolling around in my head. Star Wars is about the only thing you can shove down my throat but even then, it's far more fantasy based. It doesn't concentrate on the concepts of how things work, they just show off, like any good fantasy, and move the story right along.

However, the last few nights I have actually enjoyed watching a series of movies entitled The 4400. I have never heard anything about this show and only started watching it while playing Final Fantasy 2 on my SP. The music is gorgeous, the storyline is intriguing, and while there is a hint of "aliens?" it doesn't rag on that and follows the people of the 4400 more closely than "theories". I'm a sucker for backstories. The lives of people and the dramas they face are what I live for (but not in soap opera or Jerry Springer fashion. No thanks. I'm afraid of losing IQ points). And this storyline gives me my fill without dragging out into the land of boredom before returning to the storyline. For those that were as clueless as me, the storyline: After having been abducted, 4400 people return via a white ball. Many who have been for 60 some years haven't aged a day. They have no idea where they went or even that they were gone. Anyways... I'll let you find out the rest. I watched it on the Sci-Fi channel but I'm not sure when it's next airing is of the first season.

So I've been playing with images - forgive me
February 22, 2005, 1:08 PM EST by Maxine MagicFox
Updates: No, I haven't been away. I've just been playing around not willing to get back to serious work, yet. First off, affiliation is CLOSED! Zelda Elements and a close friend of mine have the open slots. The friend of mine has been asking for a spot for some but some... issues... prevented him from joining. At the moment, he's joining with another site and getting his own domain and then he will join my affiliation list.

Images revamped... well... sorta. Remember while I was away I made an update concerning "tweeking" my site. I attempted that this morning. o_O But I discovered that in order to do the necessary tweaks, it means going through my codes and disecting things again and fixing the new puzzle. I REALLY don't want to do that to correct a few tiny graphic errors. We will live with them. The only thing that was survived of that tiny notion is the very bottom ending image. And all I did to that was give it a left side. (w00t?)

However, while I was at it, I played around with other images and ... well, I played. You will notice that The Minish Cap section now has a new introductory image and section bar as well as a new roll over header. I also made a new button and a new "sponsers" image but... the button isn't traditional size and the sponsers image doesn't look as good as the current one so... ^_^ I'm not going to release them. ...Actually... I do know somewhere I could use the button I made..... .... we'll see...

Commentary: Haha... I had actually written up a rant to put here in the commentary but by the time I had gotten done with it, it was so long and so full of my wanderings that I decide to highlight it all and hit "backspace". Meh... aw well, I'm going now. ::Shrugs:: Tata!

See, I told you the next update would be fairly obvious!
February 19, 2005, 11:37 AM EST by Maxine MagicFox
Updates: The Midi Player has been updated! The following number of tracks were added to the end of each list (saves time on me having to report their names). To LttP/Four Swords: 1, Four Swords Adventure: 5, and to the new Minish Cap section: 5. Please enjoy these wonderful tracks everyone. They are my thank you present for all of your patience while I was away.

Commentary: And that brings the list up to 246 tracks! Remember, if you know where I can snag even more tracks, please e-mail me the link! Let's work together to get to 300 midi tracks! Oh, also, thanks everyone for the warm welcomes on Instant Messaging. ^_^ It's great to chat with everyone again.

The information comes bit by painful bit. Just tell us already!
February 19, 2005, 10:07 AM EST by Maxine MagicFox
Updates: In an interview with the French publication Liberation - quoted from IGN.

However, he did confirm two never-before-known facts about the project. "The next grand Zelda game, which follows chronologically after the Wind Waker, will be released at the end of 2005 in Japan," Aonuma revealed. The late 2005 release date in Japan would indicate that a simultaneous launch in the US could be planned.

Suspicions hang high in the air. Also, be sure to read more to get a little taste of what might be in store for future Zelda games and the Nintendo DS. It sounds like they had fun working on the Four Swords game.

Commentary: You know, I though I could be evil with my "little tid bits". I enjoy doing that to friends or you guys about an update. It's fun and heck, it even gets a few people yelling at me and pestering me. But... every interview there's one more piece about Zelda Realistic. I'm getting annoyed. What sucks more? I'M NOT EVEN GOING TO BE ABLE TO PLAY IT WHEN IT COMES OUT! .... I'm walking away. Expect more updates maybe later.

Dakara motto motto motto haruka kanata!
February 18, 2005, 1:53 PM EST by Maxine MagicFox
Updates: Ok, let's see. My e-mail is EMPTY! If you have not received any e-mail back in return then you better resend it. I didn't get it and I will be sure to this time. ~ Zelda Secrets and Oddities - Peculiar Game Glitches: TMC: "Infinite Rupee" by TheEightSage.

And the most important, we have a new affiliate. Please welcome Exploding Deku Nut to our list. This is a very interesting Zelda site. I don't know if the WebMaster intends to increase it into Zelda strategy, however, his focus is Zelda Humor, mostly in the form of Zelda satires. Awesome design at the very least. Check it out! Don't let that splash page fool you.

Commentary: Let's see... Zelda Elements is coming back in the autumn and I don't care who you are, Nexus-sama's spot on that list is reserved. So, that means, I only have room for one more affiliate. Hrrrm.... <_< >_> who will it be I wonder. ^_^ Send in your affiliate applications! Maybe it will be your site.

I have one more thing in my box to take care of and then I will be home free to take care of my own updates. And you're an idiot if you can't think what that update will be. MWHAHAHAHA. Also, please don't forget to check out the Zelda Poll!

And all fan submittions have been added - mailbox clean!
February 17, 2005, 11:29 AM EST by Maxine MagicFox
Updates: The Beta Zelda Files - Comments by Fans updated. OoT: File 13 by Vicent, File 61 by Jinkondorf, and File 62 by SecetWarrior95. ~ Zelda Secrets and Oddities - Strange Observations: TMC: "Zelda Reunion" by TheEighthSage. ~ And Fan-Art Gallery: One new addition submitted by Zora Warrior and three by Lilleah. Actually, Lilleah linked me to her Elfwood Gallery and gave me permission to snag any that I wanted. I picked my favorite three but tomorrow I plan to snag all of the other Zelda-related ones. My connection is just painfully slow and I want to get my mailbox EMPTIED today. So expect more from this outstanding artist!

Commentary: Ok, that's it. That's all fan submittions emptied and out of my mailbox. So I say, but no doubt one or two will pop in my mailbox today LOL. All that's left is to answer the Affiliation and Staff Requests that I've been putting off for some time now. I'm off to do that right now! Remember, if you submitted either of these two before January, I'm deleting it. (Way too many dead links among affiliation requests and I don't know if anybody who submitted a staff request is still interested.) Please resubmit. Thank you and I apologize for the inconvenience.

I don't know which part was harder - but I survived
February 16, 2005, 12:11 PM EST by Maxine MagicFox
Updates: Ok, and for today we have Zelda Secrets and Oddities swept out of my mailbox! For the "Peculiar Game Glitches" page: OoT: "Chicken in the Windmill - Glitch" by Jake | MM: "Gyorg Glitch" by ChameleonLizard3 | TWW: "Secret Attack/Move" by Oggan and "Going Through Ropes" by link#2. For the "Strange Observations" page: OoT: "Chicken in the Windmill - Theory" by Kojinka, "What's Under Link's Tunic?" by Christopher, and "Skydiving Link" by Max | OoS: "Gerudo Onox?" by Jinkondorf | TWW: "The Sun's Song of Passing" by Jinkondorf, "Cruel Link" by luke Wholey, and "Been Framed" by Dagodan DX | ZCE: "Eating, helping, or crying?" by ChameleonLizard3 | TMC: "Write's Brother" by Aaron

And last but not least, another update to Link's Infinite List of Torture. Items 157-159 by Sinister, NintendoManiaMan, and Sakura. I would also like to apologize to Sinister. I'm afraid I accidentally skipped his item in my mailbox yesterday and it should have been added with that bunch.

Commentary: I don't know which part was harder. Sorting through all that mail, remembering how I had the pages set up, adding the actual content up on the pages, deciding which Oddity belonged where, going through and editing, or announcing them in the updates. I'm beat. Oddities are always the most difficult to do. I'm a little sadden not to see any Tips or Tricks out of any of them - especially for TMC.

Oh, that reminds me. I noticed a lot of new re-occuring names to the list of things. I hope to see those names continue to reoccur in the Oddities and List Items. ^_^ It always pleases me to see frequent submitters. Welcome to MCLoZ and I hope you are enjoying yourselves!!

Also, please don't forget to check out the Zelda Poll, everyone!

Anime News: Now I will probably never do this again but this is... HUGE
February 15, 2005, 11:44 PM EST by Maxine MagicFox
Updates: *None

Commentary: For all anime and manga fans out there (please don't forget to check out the poll) you might be interested to click on the following link to Anime News Network. Within lies a monumental day not to be forgotten by many of us - the day Naruto was licensed. Yes, the Ninja-fighting, young-boy, Kyubi*-possessed Naruto. (Only the most awesome anime out there for those who have little idea.)

*Kyubi = Nine-Tails Fox demon

Recently introduced to the OS-Tans... Impressions....
February 15, 2005, 1:12 PM EST by Maxine MagicFox
Updates: Ok, Ta-da!! I have fully completed the list of Link's Infinite List of Torture. There's not a single e-mail in my box with the subject title "LILoT". That being said, if you don't see yours up, either because it didn't make the cut or I just never got it anyway. Anyways, the recently added items are numbers 138-156.

Commentary: Ok, so, Megatokyo recently posted an image link to the Wikipedia's definition of OS-Tans. Now, while mildly amused I marked down for future reference to download the fansub of the "opening" that had been created. Guess what was downloading while I worked and guess what I just finished watching. ^_^ Let's just say, I will never think of my computer the same way ever again, which btw, my OS-Tan would be the mecha-using 98. w00t!! (Oh... I also just recently stopped laughing after about a good ten minutes.)

The Zelda Poll has been updated - more later, hopefully
February 15, 2005, 10:38 AM EST by Maxine MagicFox
Updates: I have updated the Zelda Poll. The question is a rather simple one, I just want to know what you guys feel about me doing anime and manga reviews. I'm hoping to just do it on a monthly basis, nothing big. Not like what I tried to do in the past and this will all be done by me. Anyways, I put the choice of Monthly or weekly on the poll or "don't care". You can vote no if you believe Zelda sites just shouldn't feature anime and manga. And... for those poor infantiles, I put "What's anime/manga?" ... God, PLEASE don't let many click on this one. LOL

Commentary: Ok, ok. Nothing spectacular yet. I'm sure most are yelling at me wanting more Link Tortures, Zelda Oddities, and Zelda Midis. Give me time. Link Totures are going to be the next update... and hopefully in a few hours if I can get on the ball and no one takes the computer away. Well, see you later, I hope. Tata!!

The Vixen and her beloved computer has returned!
February 13, 2005, 2:49 PM EST by Maxine MagicFox
Updates: I have went through and updated one or two little tiny tidbits. Mostly fixed some of the errors Devilitchi made in the affiliates list and replaced the introduction paragraphs with their originals. Most importantly, however, you should note that the Zelda News Menu has started to receive updates once again! So keep your eye on it on the future!

In the new addition of Nintendo Power, two interesting articles appeared. Flagship, the Campcom development team responsible for the GB/A games the Oracle series, Four Swords, and The Minish Cap, has once is reported to have signed up once again to create yet another Zelda Game. While we already know about the creation of another Four Swords game for the DS system, this game's platform has not yet been determined, so it truly is an entirely new Zelda game.

The second article was a comment made by producer Eiji Aonuma made this following comment, discussing the upcoming realistic Zelda game:
"It is critical that the controls respond to the players' intentions and that the controls are easy to understand quickly. I think that as long as we can keep this 'responsive intuitive interactivity,' a variety of doors are open to the Zelda universe and it is not necessary to pursue traditional Zelda style. We are preparing big exciting things."

Commentary: *Sniffle* It's back. My wonderful wonderful computer has returned. Awww, the wonder! My music tracks, my website files, my ANIME! (Though I suppose I can't collect anything new since I don't have DSL yet.) I tell you, it's wonderful to be back. It's wonderful to have made these small updates. Sorry for the lack of them... I kinda chickened out trying to get by Mom's "no website files" rule on her computer. Well, I'll talk to you guys later, Tata!! I'M BACK!!

The fun never stops around here - not allowed to? Ha!
February 7, 2005, 11:05 AM EST by Maxine MagicFox
Updates: Alright, I've emptied by box of a few e-mails. Not as many as I wanted but... read below to see why. I have updated Link's Infinite List of Torture. Items 123-137 have been added.

Commentary: So, the last time I updated, I'm sitting around playing Dark Cloud when Mom starts yelling at me not to put my website stuff on her computer. o_O Urk... well <_< for one thing I feel that they are only text documents and for another THERE'S ONLY FIVE OF THEM! However, after a rather long argument I am not permitted to work on my site on her computer. Of course, not that I would really listen... but it just means I've got to be a little more sneaky... -_- Which means, updates are going to be rather slow. *Sigh* I have no luck. o_O I don't even know how she found out and I hope I can hide my secret work until my computer is up. >_< This is so annoying.

I have had one heck of a very trying morning
February 4, 2005, 2:37 PM EST by Maxine MagicFox
Updates: And finally at the end of this very long and trying morning, the one thing that I managed to get accomplished was to update September 2004's monthly log file as well as add up October, November, December, and January's. Though, they are rather puny.

Commentary: And to think that this all started because I wanted to write a rant about something I read on MegaTokyo. I'm not going to do that now, however. I'm too frustrated. First, I decided "so what can I update since there is no news? Can I update?" I go and try to download my ftp program. o_O A two hour long download. -_-; Is there a way in cpanel? ^_^ Yes!

So, then I have to see... does this computer have any documenting device that I can use to do coding on? @_@ That was a trial in itself. But, finally I managed to unearth my trusty WordPad which is the same program I use on my computer.

Alright, those problems all set, you would think the rest would be easy. WRONG! I come on here and find that when I scroll down there are only a total of 20 updates vieawable on the page. A feature I did not know that existed in Coranto and is a rather nice feature considering my new (well not new anymore but it was before I moved) update system and lack of a "page 2". However... I couldn't figure out how to get the other updates to be viewable. I can edit them in the "Modify" section but that's just the raw text. o_O I tried everything! I even took the updates page down to see if I could rework something. T-T Nothing worked even the thing that was labeled "to turn off how many items can be viewed". Then about 30 minutes ago the gears clicked - >_< for anything new that I set up I always have to either make a new update or modify an old one before the settings will occur! I spent two hours trying to figure something out when THE ONLY THING I HAD TO DO WAS TO CLICK "MODIFY" AND THEN "SUBMIT"!!!

Anyways, I'm in a VERY lousy mood. So, now I'm going to calmly walk off, hope you're happy with this meager little update. At least now I know that I can update and may now commence doing so even without my computer being hooked up. The first thing that I will try to hit in the following days is to empty my mailbox that's full of "Link's List of Infinite Torture" and "Zelda Secrets and Oddities". Good bye!

A humble Otaku does a little splurging...
February 2, 2005, 10:19 AM EST by Maxine MagicFox
Updates: Ok, so, it's official. Once Dethl'sShadow completes his game, he will begin work on The Minish Cap section. However, the position for Walkthrough Writer is still open for the game, unless Devilitchi suddenly pops up saying that he too has the game and would like to be in charge of the walkthrough (which I'm kinda hoping.... LOL). But, walkthrough writer still needed!

Commentary: >:D April is too far away. I need my Fai-sama NOW!

Cnet posted this fascinating article on their website: Anxious times in the cartoon underworld. It is generally concerning the Media Factory events.

While it's more or less a smooth reading, I had to laugh when it started getting into the sales market. Hrrrm... "Mainstream is up, middle stream is down." ::Pushes her glasses up her nose:: (Psst, if you haven't learned by now, this is when you get ready for a rant.)

Well, why wouldn't the mainstream anime shows be up in sales? I mean, I must have seen about ten videos over in K-Mart promoting Pokemon and Yugi-Oh. Over at Walmart I could easily buy a Dragonball Z as well. And then, just the other day I go in to my local Blockbuster and ask "Do you have any Japanese animations?" The girl gives me this blank look and is like "I'm sorry..." And I say "Umm, Serial Experiment Lain? FLCL? Rurouni Kenshin?" -blank- "*sigh* Pokemon, Sailor Moon, Dragonball Z, Cardcaptors?" -OOOOOOOH- "Yes, of course, those would be over in the children's section." *MagicFox promptly walks out of the store*

I think the highlight of my life was at my uncle's local Walmart. They actually had a copy of the "Ghost in the Shell" movie. Of course, inappropriately placed in the kid's section, squashed in between Dragonball Z and Yugi-Oh.

Of course mainstream would be getting "some" attention since half the time what is shown on TV is the only thing that will register in most American's stupid minds. I mean, we can't expect Americans to completely forget their prejuidices against other countries long enough for them to actually pick up one of their animations.

Why wouldn't mainstream be getting alot of attention? It's shown on TV and geared for children and parents pick it up to shut them up. As for the middlestream, think of what us Otakus have to do to get it. I know my local Walmart isn't going to be selling Excel Saga anytime soon. No, I have to search out a special store such as Sam's Goody or Suncoast in hopes of finding maybe one or two videos.

They talk about middlestream sells being down? Did they ever think that it had something to do with the general public having no clue what the heck you are talking about? Or that it is typically not sold in common stores along with the far more popular titles of Pokemon or other Cartoon Network hosted anime? *Eye roll* Heck, my sister tells a friend she's watching an anime called Fruits Basket and he accuses her of watching pornography.

No matter what they say, general public awareness is extremely low and until they get those videos in a more convenient location, it's more than likely going to stay that way. And until then, Otaku all around America will continue getting those blank stares and weird looks.

Oh, and before someone pipes up and tells me that that's not all they were considering to be mainstream. Yes, it is. The other few shows that are doing well that have no connection nor ties among Cartoon Network has still been shown at least once on TV. Either that or it was an extremely popular title among Otaku, enough so that it broke through the travesties pitched against it.

Officially no longer a Navy Brat!
February 1, 2005, 11:33 AM EST by Maxine MagicFox
Updates: Nintendo Power released an interesting interview with Capcom talking about The Minish Cap and future plans. Sorry it's a bit late in being announced, but you can read it here: Q&A with the Zelda Team.

Also, after getting back in touch with Dethl'sShadow, it may be possible that I will not be in need of a Minish Cap section writer. I'll keep you updated of any turn outs. (I hope he can do the section ^_^ )

Commentary: *Sniffle* Yesterday was my Dad's official day of retirement from 20 looooong years in the Navy. ^_^ Today he starts his life out once again as a civilian. And me, I no longer have to tell people I'm a Navy Brat and will be forced to move up and down the coast. *Sigh* Let's see... all the places I've lived in... Ohio, California, South Carolina, Virginia, Georgia, Connecticut, and now I'm in Pennsylvania. In addition, I've seen and visited with relatives in West Virginia and Florida. *Sigh* I'm sick of seeing new states. I can't say that I overly like PA but, it's as good as any of the others, I suppose.
