Different Gaming Style

January 30, 2007, 12:32 PM EST by Maxine MagicFox

Today's Updates: *New affiliate: Simulation Style

I really want to plug this site. It's not a Zelda site, not at all, but it does have to do with gaming.

The first thing I want to put out there is while the people on the site are working on various games, many of them are not translated. To be honest, there's not much that I know about these games since I only just discovered this different style two days ago. I know the ones I have been downloading are called Doujinishi(Fan-made) games, but I'm not sure if that's for all of them.

First, how about a small story of where I've been the last two days:

///Beging Story/
About two days ago I was surfing around when I saw a screen for a downloadable game. The graphics were GORGEOUS. I'm such a sucker for the colors, I swear. So - I downloaded it. It was called Perfect Cherry Blossom and it was designed with anime characters and beautiful Japanese backdrops. If you've played the old arcade game Centipede you would be strongly reminded of it. But, Centipede has NOTHING on this game. The graphics, the music, and the difficulty! Irk! Bullets/magic-balls flying EVERYWHERE! It's insane! You expeect me to DODGE all of these?! *Smirk* Bring it on.

However, there was one small problem: the game was o_O in Japanese. ^_^ But I found a site with an english patch for it. But that's when I discovered - the game was only a trial version. Ever have one of those days where things just aren't going your way?

The next day I post on the forums of the site where I got the english patch asking where to get the full version. Oh... of COURSE you have to buy it <_< >_> Thankfully ^_^ one member was kind enough to direct me to this WONDERFUL site called Simulation Style. Not only did they have Perfect Cherry Blossom (found under Touhou section) but also most of the games in the series. *Gamers heaven*

However, my problems didn't end there. To make matters very short, I had to jump on the forums and then entered their IRC channel to get help with downloading. The webmaster Holy and ALL of the folks were EXTREMELY nice (though gamers to the core LOL). I SERIOUSLY owe them a lot.

And somehow through all of this I managed to plug my site ~_^. When Holy asked for affiliation, how could I DENY it? After he had been so nice and after I was so impressed with his site.
/End Story///

But more so: it's a different style of gaming. Yes, the site is technicallly warez and I encourage everyone that, if you love the games, PURCHASE them, too. There is nothing about the ones I have downloaded that isn't short of absolutely STUNNING. And believe me, the site itself has more than enough information about all of them ^_^.

Thanks again, Holy, for ALL of your help.

A rather long yet important rant

January 28, 2007, 12:20 PM EST by Maxine MagicFox

Today's Updates: Zelda Secerts and Oddities - Peculiar Glitches:

  • OoT - Chicken Coop Shortcut | Jacob
  • OoT - See the Sun at Night | Hannah
  • MM - No Time | Fierce deity paul
  • TWW - Constant Explosion | pookiudnlkdmg
  • TMC - Orange Link | Tyoka Bina
  • TP - Cannon Progress | Jack
Zelda Secrets and Oddities - Odd Tips and Tricks:

  • TWW - Item Thief | Penguin dude
Zelda Secrets and Oddities - Unusual Observations:

  • OoT - Answer to Impa Born in Her Own Town | Hannah
  • OoT - Tree at Lake Hylia | Gimmeswords
  • MM - Great Bay's Huge Fish | TheLink
  • MM - Little Green Men | EggNorton
  • TWW - Battle Music Changes | Nintendo2.0
  • TWW - Tingle Tower | Gimmeswords
  • TP - Mean Man | Penguin dude
  • TP - Forcefield? | Penguin dude
  • TP - Sniper Proof | Penguin dude

Be prepared, this is going to get long but IT'S VERY IMPORTANT.

After going through all of the Oddities in my mailbox, I was ready to kill myself. Now, I do not expect you people to be english majors like I am, but DEAR GOD there is a LIMIT! And spelling and grammar aside, if I have no idea what the heck you are talking about, then what good is it to anyone?! Ok, please excuse me if I humiliate anyone. My purpose is not to offend anyone, but I MUST make a few examples. Names will be excluded and a majority of these were not added up to the galleries.

Spelling and grammar - If I can not understand you, then how the heck will I know what you are talking about. Take this one for example:

oddityname = Forcefield?
game = tp
oddity = When you're in the dungeon part of the temple of time, have the one big
statue that opens the door to the boss, stand in the part where the thing comes
down to teleport it, and the statue there so it teleports, Link will be pushed
out a nd his feet don't move. Looks like he slides.

Did you realize he's actually talking about Link standing in the transporter when the statue is either being transported or entering the room? The bell-shaped object pushes Link out of the way. Thankfully, I had seen this before in my own play through the game, so knew what he was talking about and was able to edit it enough to where it made it into the gallery.

This one was no better, but it, too, made it into the gallery. (I think I'm scarred for life from this one.)

oddityname = HUGE FISH
game = Majoras Mask
oddity = Ok, i discovered this when my friend and i were messing around in MM
with anything we could find.I suddenly recalled you using ice arrows to make
platforms earlier. if you do this at Great Bay (might need some green potions),
you can go out really far if your fast enough.Anyway, if you do this starting at
the far left side of the beach, out a ways (like 20 or 21 blocks), youll see a
HUGE fish that looks like a skeleton in the water.when i found this i kinda
freaked and fell in and since i jumped past the boundry (it only blocks swimmers
:) ) i blacked and ended up at the entrance. its kinda fun :P

Please... PLEAES edit! AT LEAST make your "I"s capital. Can we do that? Is that really so hard? Why must I go back and edit everything that you say? This made it in, obviously.

Moving on....

Where are you in the game? - If I have NO CLUE what area you are talking about in the game, then I cannot add it up. And please, I've only played through the game once myself, so I can't remember everything that happened to me in Twilight Princess. These two examples DID NOT make it into the gallery. Maybe you can figure out what they are talking about, but I certainly could not.

oddityname = Stupid, stupid people
game = tp
oddity = When you have to see Zelda again, when you're in the bar, on the 1st
ledge, go to a spot and do a spin attack to break everything. the goron still
hears something, but it's a lot easier to get to the dungeon now.

oddityname = Floating in black
game = tp
oddity = I was fighting the boar riders after the bridge scene and I got a boar
to go over. I looked down and it was still there. Now, if you've been down in
the raft game, you will notice this is in that same black spot. How did the boar
not fall in the water and avoid all the sharp rocks?

Goron that hears something? And when you go see Zelda again, you are a wolf and you are thrown out of the bar. As for the second one, what "bridge scene" are we refering to? And I don't know any of them that appeared in the raft game, let alone trying to locate some mysterious "black spot".

Next: NO ACTION REPLAY CODES WILL BE ACCEPTED! There's nothing particular strange that something strange will occur when you break the parameters of the game. Now, if you did an action replay code in say OoT and you suddenly landed in an area that was like the Golden Land, then I MIGHT consider it. If you notice, in the Glitches section under OoT, I added an action replay codes that talked about getting an Arwing into the game. Now THAT'S odd. This isn't:

oddityname = walk through walls and pigs in a box!
game = The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker
oddity = ok i was playing around with some action replay codes umm they where
jump when pressing R and the other was use any item anywhere.

well i found out if you jump when entering houses (time it right before you
close the door or it will freez)you will then be able to go through all sorts of
walls, this is great outside considering you can go under the islands, but
anyways do this to the bomb shop owner and go behind his counter and plant bombs
near the boxes that cant be broken by throwing or rolling into. If done
correctly 3 pigs will be inside them.. odd hunh

Umm..., no not odd. The action replay breaks the codes that are defined in a game's coding, so you can do a lot of strange things with them. You can probably turn Link all black if you figured out the right code. What would have been odd is if you discovered the lost city of Atlantis by doing a code.

Oh, but this one had something else that I want to remark on:

oh and go to http://somestrangeurl
they have the best home brewn actionreplay codes.

NO ADVERTISING!! This is MCLoZ and these are my viewers and I want to keep them here. Yes, I am a very jealous God XD. Anyways, obviously, this one did NOT make it into the gallery.

Ok, so, what is acceptable? Again, I do not expect you to be english majors, and I do not mind editing these things. I know you are not perfect. This is a very good example of what I LOVE to see (other than a perfectly editted submittion that doesn't require me editing). This made it into the gallery, and though it has flaws, it took me all of about 2 seconds to edit with no guess work attached:

oddityname = see the sun at night
game = Ocarina of Time
oddity = You have to be a kid and it has to be day. Go to the entrace of the
market and climb up the left draw bridge chain and wait until night. (You can
use the Sun's Song.) Then the draw bridge will come up and you will still be at
the top. (at this point you can walk across the draw bridge and and then walk
back across for 3 red rupees. The rupees come back if you leave and come back.)
Anyway if your on the left chain and Link is facing away from Death mountain and
your up against the wall, you should be able to see through the wall and down
underneath (?) Hyrule. If you wait a while the sun will come into veiw. I'm sure
you can do this to see the moon during the day, but I haven't tested that.

See, some misspellings, a few grammar problems, but, honestly, I love to see this stuff and it doesn't take that long to edit. And not only that, it was SO DETAILED! Yes, PERFECT! That's exactly what I want and what my viewers want. Some of us have not picked these games up in years. When we read these oddities, we should be able to either know EXACTLY what she's talking about or being able to replay the game and do them step-by-step.

Look, I even editted the format with this design for the oddities so they can be PARAGRAPHs long if you like. So - DETAILS!! I want DETAILS! Be as long and as descriptive as you like. BUT PLEASE EDIT before you press that submit button! Otherwise, read below to find out what's going to happen from now on.

PLEASE when you are filling out that form and turning in submittions - CHECK YOUR WORK!! At this point I'm ready to bang my head against a wall until red fluid is pouring down my face. I am also going to note something very important from now on. I AM LAZY! From this moment on, if I see a lot of the same cr*p that I saw today, I am DELETING IT! I'm not even going to bother! If I feel that it's not worth my time and that it's just delaying me from really important things, such as other far more interesting oddities or getting to work on other parts of the site, I'm just going to delete it and move on. I'm not even going to bother to e-mail you. It's not worth my time. I do not have the patience.

This ALSO applies to Link's Infinite List of Torture. I dread seeing the condition of those. Those will be added up at some later point this week. My nerves are shot today. I do not have the patience to deal with that @#$@%!$% again today.

New Affiliate - Zelda Shrine!

January 27, 2007, 11:16 AM EST by Maxine MagicFox

Today's Updates: New Affiliate Zelda Shrine has joined our ranks! Be sure to visit them. And isn't that such an adorable button they have over on the right? I kinda like it (I created it).

And for today's menu: Link's Infinite List of Torture and Zelda Oddities. I logged in the other day to find that my mailbox had received a total of about 14 items for both of these pages - in just that day! So, I've got a huge backlog.

^_^; I'm also going to comment to the smart elec that filled the form out demanding I update the page. I promise you, this page will get updated eventually. It's not always my top piority right now considering that not even half of my site is online. You are just going to have to be patient with me.

I think I am going to try a new system, though. I think I'm going to try to aim for updating these pages every weekend. One of the main problems I face is I never want to just get started uploading these and having to stop in the middle because then I forget what I have and have not uploaded. Aiming to do these during the weekend sets me up on a more dependable schedule.

So, throughout the course of today and tomorrow, these two pages are my top priority.

Let's also NOT forget that I am in college. My work load for this semester is HUGE. As it stands, I have an Algebra test Tuesday, in class Monday I'm learing the bane of every writer - MLA citation format, then I have my history class in which I'm HORRIBLE, and then in my Pring Design class I need to be figuring out how I'm going to layout my mock-magazine and what sort of stories I'm going to write and the images that I'm going to need. And last but not least - my journalism class! By the end of the semester I need to have written four stories. *Sigh* And the first one is due Feb. 13. Gak! What's going to be my first one?!

So, while I'm updating these pages, this weekend is going to be spent figuring up my first new story for my journalism class and start coming up with the sources I'm going to interview, and then I've got a ton of Algebra homework to work on. -_- School isn't really all that fun in the end. ^_^ But, at least when I get these four new stories written for my journalism class, they are going to look very nice in my mock-magazine for Print Design. *Squee* It's going to be fun to write a story AND get to lay it out. I'm hoping there will be a way to upload my final project for you guys to see. It's going to be a gaming magazine so it should be interesting even for you guys. <3

Nintendo Power Promotion

January 25, 2007, 4:22 PM EST by Maxine MagicFox

I suppose this a small Zelda news thing. I don't know for how long it has been up since I don't frequent the zelda.com site too often, but I was over there yesterday when I saw a promotion that is going on. Subscribe for 12 months of Nintendo Power and you'll receive the Players Guide for the Wii version of Twilight Princess as well as the official soundtrack!

Prices: $19.95 (US) and $27.95 (Canada).

Source: Nintendo Power promotion

I thought you guys might find that mildly interesting. I haven't seen the soundtrack at all. Probably better that way since I don't have the money. Anyways, I added this as Event #2 in the images above.

There's the answer I wanted!

January 24, 2007, 7:40 AM EST by Maxine MagicFox

Today's Updates: New Feature Images - now with new clickable action! w00t!

Ok, most of you noticed last night that I changed the new images in the features banner above. This morning, though, I was hard at work on something I've been searching for since I first started piecing this design together: you can now click on the images to get to the new location listed on the image.

XD Isn't it great?! That's going to make quite a few things in the future far more convenient for you guys. And solves my constant worry about having to post up a url that's much too big for the image.

Yes, I've been searching far and wide for the answer I so seeked to this quandry. For all my many talents, I can manipulate javascript SOME but I don't know how to code it straight up. This morning, I did another search trying to find some codes that I could manipulate to perform the function that I needed. I FOUND SOME! XD I was so excited! The problem with it before is that I can have a link on the random images, no problem, but when you go clicking the E-1,2,3 buttons, those links won't change with the image. I had to find a code that would change them forcibly.

:P I've been working on it since 5:30 this morning. It is now 8am and I haven't even gotten my backpack together for college. I hope you guys appreciate what I do for you!

LttP Released on Wii Virtual Console

January 23, 2007, 11:30 AM EST by Maxine MagicFox

It was announced yesterday that the famous super nintendo Zelda marvel, A Link to the Past, is now released for the Wii's Virtual Console. The same original game that we all know and love with just a hint of a graphical touch up.

The game can be purchased for 800 points USA. Get it while it's hot! ... And I'll be working that much harder on getting the LttP section up to speed for anyone in need of guides.

Source: IGN

*Sniffle* My beloved game. It has remained on my favorites list for SO long. If you've never played it, or have only played the HORRIBLE gameboy revampe model, you really are in for a treat. *Squeee* .... I wish I had a Wii.... even if I do have the SNES cartridge... *sigh*

I was going to wait... but...

January 22, 2007, 9:39 AM EST by Maxine MagicFox

Today's Updates: Special: Wallpaper gallery has been opened in the Image Gallery!

I was going to wait until the END of IGCU week but... ^_^; I couldn't wait... I got bored searching for images, had these on back call, and just decided to go ahead and get them loaded up.

Lots of them are really nice, including the Twilight Princess papers. Some of these are pretty old, though, so I'm going to be on the search for new nice ones. I'm hoping to ALSO get an album of user contributed papers going - maybe. That's something for the future, though. Of course... future could be tomorrow or six years from now. You never know with me. ~_^

*Sigh* I had to stay home from college today. -_- Asthma is acting extremely bad due to a cold. Kinda depressed about it. So, I hope you guys have a much MUCH better day than I do.

Trouble-shooting at the forums

January 22, 2007, 7:05 AM EST by Maxine MagicFox

Just a warning if you visit the forums today, or maybe all this week: a user has been having some problems, so I am working on trying to fix the issues that they have experienced. As such, the design and other components may be acting strange. Please ignore them. None of these changes should inhibit registration or posting. If you experience any problems of such a nature, please e-mail me immediately!

IGCU - Over 120+ Added!

January 21, 2007, 7:30 PM EST by Maxine MagicFox

Today's Updates: As the title says, over 120 images added to the Image Gallery, including those counted before. All of the updates this time were directed at the official art section of Twilight Princess. I think the only album that didn't get a new file was the Miscellaneous section, if I recall, but might want to double check.

^_^ I've said it before, and I'll say it again, I LOVE coppermine gallery SO much! All of this work done in so little time. *Squeee* And even in between downtime on my site.

Just a word about the downtime: In case you do not realize, Zelda Legends is our host. However, right now, their site, and probably their hostees, are proving too big for their current server. As stated on their main page, they are looking into fixing the problem right now. Hopefully, with any luck, things will start looking up.

IGCU Week Begins Now!

January 21, 2007, 1:28 PM EST by Maxine MagicFox

Today's Updates: Nearly 50 images have already been added to the image gallery! These images pertain to the TP gallery with updates to the Official Art > Characters, Scenes, and Miscellaneous sections. As well as the official opening of the Phantom Hourglass section! Obviously, these two are going to receive the most attention.

At the moment I've only been taking images that can be found on Zelda Legends, but I'm going to be going through and raiding other sites as I go along. Hahaha. So, yeah, if things look exactly like my host right now, forgive me - not like he doesn't have nearly everything and anything anyway.

I will also be working on my mailbox and getting the Torture Items up but also the long overdue Oddities. I dunno, when it comes to posting those up, I am rather slow. And I have A LOT to post up, too. I'm sorry, everyone. ^_^; I know you guys are probably like "what is the form broken or something?" I assure it, it is not. I'm just extremely slow.

*Sigh* All of this and homework that I wasn't able to get to yesterday.

I guess I never did mention to you guys that I completed Twilight Princess, did I? You can view my full opinions my Live Journal. (BTW, yeah, you can always stick around and read that. It's open to public viewing, though keep in mind, it's not affiliated with this Zelda site and as such I will not hesitate to post my opinions about ANYTHING and EVERYTHING and I will NOT be held responsible for insulting anyone. Oh, and there is mild swearing. Hehe, I can keep my mouth clean on MCLoZ, but in reality, I am NO saint. ... Truthfully, you have no idea how many times I have to catch myself on these updates.)

Oh, and yes, I was up that early this morning *points to below post*. I was extremely sick yesterday and last night I just couldn't get back to sleep. *Sigh* My luck, right?

*IGCU = Image Gallery Catch-Up

Because it interests me!

January 21, 2007, 4:23 AM EST by Maxine MagicFox

And it's for news bits like this that I really created the Game News section of the updates. Haha, I realize it's got nothing to do with Zelda or is anything significant, but, grant me my little lapses into journeying into the world of other games.

For those of you who are interested, Nintendo has launched a teaser for Final Fantasy VI Advance.

It's not an official site, yet, though. However, it does give the all important information - due date! February 5th!!

-_- That kinda sucks for me, who isn't going to be able to get it just yet... not for a while anyway.

Announcing IGCU Week!!

January 19, 2007, 10:09 AM EST by Maxine MagicFox

While it is my fondest hope to attempt to get some more pages up in the new design and loaded, I'm dubbing this weekend and next week "Image Gallery Catch-Up Week"!

This weekend, I'm going to seriously get to work on uploading new images into the database and try to get things in proper order. You are also encouraged to help me, by hopping over there and uploading anything you might also have that is not located in the gallery. Anything from manual shots to official art to screenshots would be extremely helpful. And remember, to contribute images YOU DO NOT HAVE TO HAVE AN ACCOUNT! Just load up whatever you want.

I will attempt, though, to finish up the LttP section except for the walkthroughs and boss strategies. Those need to undergo serious surgery that I do not want to be bothered with until everything else is completed.

Remember, don't forget, I'm also looking for staff members. ESPECIALLY someone to help me maintain the Image Gallery. Coppermine experience REQUIRED!!

Professors are jerks

January 17, 2007, 6:54 AM EST by Maxine MagicFox

Today's Updates: Rupee Collecting for A Link to the Past has been re-added in the new design.

So, it's back to classes with me. I have Algebra, Sociology, and American History Tuesdays and Thursdays. Today I will have English 102, Copy Editing and Make-up, and Journalism 102.

Sounds like fun. Well, the work load sure isn't going to be. I hate my History professor most of all. Quizzes every Thursday and he's not afraid of pop-quizzes either. Says it's rare for people to get an A in his class. What an @$$! I'm going to get that A, just you wait and see! The challenge is on! He doesn't realize it, but he's met his match. Especially when he says that most of his work is based on writing essays. Pffft. Child's play. Hard on grammar, is he? *Unsheaths her pencil* YOU HAVE NOT MET THE POWER THAT IS MAXINE MAGICFOX!! Beware, evil professor.

Pfft, he even wrote a book that is required for the course. It's pretty much a "How-To" on writing history papers. *Rolls eyes* Dear God, how full of themselves can people get?

And what's up with Sociology? I'm not even going to begin discussing that one. The psychology of how people deal with groups and class divisions. You know, I think sometimes they throw darts at a bunch of topics and combine them together just so they can find yet another way to get our money. I can't believe I have to pay for this nonscence.

Hmph... I hope today goes off better. It will feel good, anyway, to get back in the familiar classes that I know I can master.

Kirei na aozora no shita de...

January 15, 2007, 7:10 AM EST by Maxine MagicFox

Today's Updates: In the A Link to the Past section, the guides to Faerie Fountains and Heart Pieces have been added up in the new design. *Sigh* One piece at a time.

Ok, permit me the small walk into the world of Kingdom Hearts. I know I didn't leave you with much on my gaming news article about my thoughts, because I honestly wasn't sure.

When a company sells rights, I didn't know if the original creators were still kept on or not. Since, a buddy has told me that the original staff would indeed still be creating the series.

*Phew* With that said, I kinda want to support a selling, now. That is, if the selling goes off to a more Disney-friendly company that will provide them more freedom to do what the want with the game. It might be exciting to see what they come up with in that event.

Console-wise, I have little emotion. I'm not the console-lovin' type of girl. Honestly, I think the whole console war thing is just full of itself. Why can't we have ONE universal console and everyone just makes games for that? I want GAMES not more CONSOLES. And I'm sick of a console being released every two years. My wallet can not handle it and, honestly, they are sacrificing patronage that way.

Just think, my money, instead going out to a new Wii, could instead be going out to purchasing the new hot title that everyone is talking about. And the thousands of dollars companies are spending to come up with the next hottest console to beat the others, could instead be going to creating even more realistic games that stretch on for hours. I would LOVE to have a 100-hour game, wouldn't you? If you ask me, companies' time and money is being spent in the wrong place.

JUST CHOOSE YOUR BLOODY WEAPON AND GET IT OVER WITH!! So far, every console I've ever played, has been ranted and raved to be capable of this and this and that, but you never see a game produced with those sort of specs, generally because by the time they have a shelf full of a few games, they are already working on the next-gen console.

*Blinks* I'm sorry, I started out talking about Kingdom Hearts and somehow it turned into a rant about consoles. Hehehe, forgive me.

Anyways, this rant was just to show you people that MagicFox has NOT forgotten how to post her opinions - in case there was anyone who forgot.

Really, I am working - Honest!

January 14, 2007, 11:06 AM EST by Maxine MagicFox

Today's Updates: Link's Infinite Torture List - Items 263 - 282 Posted by Penguin dude, Rabid Stalfos, Linkdeath, the real link, Requiem, Xhrics, and Li'l Wind Kokiri. A majority of them are TP, too!

Really, honestly, I am working... sorta. Ok, well I had to finish Twilight Princess first! Give me a break. I'm a gamer first and foremost. Hahaha. And I did finish the game. w00t! Saddly, though, as beautiful a game it is, it does not beat LttP for my first, nor TWW for my second favorites, but it does beat MM for my third. XD

So, expect updates... though, I back to college Tuesday. *Sigh* Why me...

AND WHY ARE THEY GOING TO MESS AROUND WITH KINGDOM HEARTS?!! .... *murderish mood*

Square-Enix to sell two series?

January 14, 2007, 10:56 AM EST by Maxine MagicFox

Most people have probably heard this by now, but it seems that Square-Enix, the company responsible for the Final Fantasy series, will be selling off two of its popular franchies. At this time, there are only rumors as to which two series.

According to Gamespot, the two possible series to be sold will be Kingdom Hearts and the Chrono Trigger series.

Thoughts: *Panic* *Panic* NO! NOT KH!! NO!! THEY'LL CHANGE IT! Nooooo! *Bursts into tears and runs off, screaming* They can't do this to me!!
