Starting October 1st!!! September 26, 2006, 9:46 AM EST by Maxine MagicFox
Updates: Ready for the big news? Sorry, not Zelda related, though the Wii and TP-Wii are coming out soon. If you have been to the forums recently you will have noticed my announcement that October 1st, that's this Sunday, the forums will be disabled and later disappear altogether when I dump the database and start all over. At that time you will be able to find me at either the Rauru's Return Forums or Zelda Elements Forums. Something else that will happen that you will probably not notice for the larger part: I will be removing Coranto from the main page. In other words, instead of working off the Coranto news system, any updates I make in the future will be purely HTML coded by me. I have a LOT of re-designing and settings to change on Coranto. So, through the month of October it is SERIOUSLY doubtful that you will hear from me any at all.
Commentary: State of the new design. Again, if you want to check out the new design's basic template you can visit http://mcloz.net/newmcloz/index.html
However, I'm going to tell you that already this design is OUTDATED and I will not be updating it. A few things got changed, things have been redone, new images posted in, and a lot of my ideas were revised.
And pretty much the basic layout is now COMPLETE. I'm done with the layout except for when the pages shift, but that's a whole different element. Which means all through the month of October most of my work will now consist of going through each and every page and not only making it design compatible but also to upgrade the content presented if I feel that it needs it.
T-T I have so much work to do! And only one month in which to do it. I'm still at this point fighting to meet my November deadline. Here's my promise to you, October 25th check back to see an update. IF you SEE an update: I have not met my deadline and that means saddness for you and I will be posting up a new date. However, if you DON'T see and update: XD then check back November 1st for the Grand Opening of the new design for MCLoZ and the start again of official updates! w00t!!
Wish me luck everyone!

So, it's been a while, let's chat! September 14, 2006, 11:11 AM EST by Maxine MagicFox
Updates: Updated the CSS coding of the new design. Slowly everything does come together. I haven't actually chatted on here in a LONG while, but I think I need to to give a heads up on what everyone should be expecting once November hits and everything is ready to be released. First: There will be no Forums. I'm taking them down. Will they return? OBVIOUSLY! THEY ARE LISTED IN THE TOOLBAR!! I just want to make a new template and dump the forums and try to set up some rules and clean things up. Meaning: the forums are probably getting dumped. *Sigh* So sad... but oh well. I've only seen a bunch of n00bs hanging around them anyway last time I checked. (Oh and the Image Gallery will, hopefully, share the very same layout with the forums.) Second: No Fan-Fiction submittions. People are STILL sending me these *blink*. STOP IT!! NO FAN FICTIONS!! If everything goes according to my plans, I'm going to rig it so that the Fan-Fiction and Fan-Art sections run the same way with the same usernames and passwords and all that nonscene. Third: Things will be rearranged. Things will be ommited. Things will be added. Things will be redesigned. Oh, wait, you probably already figured that one out, huh? A note to those who are wondering: I might be taking down the "midi player". I know I have it listed on the new design in the main toolbar, but either it will get changed, revamped, whatever, or it will just become a list such as you see in the side bar under the media stuff. I've noticed that on my new laptop and Windows XP... the thing doesn't want to work. I dunno if its because I'm missing some software or what, but, if I can't use it T-T no one will! (Plus I doubt it works for others and then it becomes an issue of "is it worth the extra hassle"?)
Commentary: Let's chat about my design!! Isn't it so pretty? XD
Things that move: You can't see it, because it is a static image right now, but things that move include the Camp Hyrule/Feature image. Well, it won't really move. Actually, it does the same function you see to the left with the Event section. That's all it is. The Events are just getting upgraded into something nicer and better. There will be a bar or something rigged to make you able to change the images.
So, you are going to be plagued by one or two repeat Event images everywhere you go on the site, right? WRONG! The gaming section will take over the Events images. ^_^ Gaming information goes there instead.
Next, side dividers: Right now you just see a tiny pic of Ezlo over to the left. Every side divider has a different image. I'll prolly get rid of Ezlo since I think there's enough TMC floating around on the design as it is. All section dividers, except one, will be in this format.
The "special/gaming" divider. The top right one. It will do the same thing that my gaming toolbar above does. You roll over the text of the games' names and the section divider will change with The game's name, the image will change, and you will get release date info / upcoming release date info.
What else is there... hrrrrm... Aw! We have a new buddy joining us. A "Return to Top" button. Those are always so handy... Everyone like my Triforce XD?
Now the toolbar, I saved it for last simply because I have no idea what in the heck I am doing with it!! IF I get my wish, when you scroll over those options, the sparklies in the back will do a cute little rotate thingy so that they will be upside down when your mouse hovers.
Next, the empty blocks of color. You see two, right? The big white in the top corner which is where our google ad is going to go.
The bluish/purple bar below Link's foot: It's our title bar.
The links to the side... I'm still playing with them. I wanted to do something a little like ZU has, but I dunno yet. As you can see right now, they are obviously different. ^_^ I enjoy playing around with ideas. You never know what's going to end up working and how far it was from your original idea. My original idea had included the divider images to be clouded over and when your mouse is hovering in a link section, it would highlight/uncover the image, but I don't want to get too graphic-intensive. People complained that the current design that you are still viewing is very laggy and hard to load up.
A few last important mentionables: - The site's resolution is obviously for 1024x768. - The site will be compatible with BOTH IE and FireFox, with maybe only one or two small differences between them that I can't help (such as the space between the page links). - The site will not be fully compatible with MAC computers unless you are using Safari. Forget it! I'm not even going to attempt it! MAC IEs don't read CSS??!! *Glomps her beautiful PC laptop* - The site is coded in CSS! Yes, I am the master of both HTML and CSS. Well, ok, I'm in training for CSS. But, it's pretty basic and I'm enjoying it. And, dear God, I don't think I could get the design to work and/or be compatible with both browsers if it weren't for the sanctitude of CSS. I really should have listened to others and learned them sooner.
Ok, I believe that is everything. Wish me luck! And hope I don't decide to drop all my coding and start over with newer fresher ideas. There's just something about those links that I don't like.....

College... death... September 12, 2006, 9:10 PM EST by Maxine MagicFox
Updates: So, if anyone pays attention to our splash page, you will have noticed that I updated the image to say "November" instead of "Fall," which makes things a heck of a lot more precise. I'm still going to say that that's not the be-all-and-end-all. Like Miyamoto/Ninteno, I'm prone to move things back, especially when I have projects and college work to do every time I turn around. *Shifty Eyes* And for those that really care and are still with me, would you like an insider look into the new design? Huh, huh? Sure! Why not?! New Design - and yes, I did warn you that it was going to be on the cartoonish/kiddish/NON-TP side, right? Obviously, it's not done and the only reason it's up there is because of the one or two times, like right now, that I needed a little advice from my CSS-sensei Archaic of Rauru's Return. XD Great buddy he is! Right now... I'm having problems trying to get my links to change color from that aweful default color. Of course I'm still LEARNING CSS!! If you see anything that looks horrible, from the design is broken to incorrect coding (please be kind *sniff*) e-mail me. I have MACs at my school and some of today was spent taking advantage and correcting a few small codes that broke the layout (I will NEVER leave my PC!! MACs=horrid. -_- And I have an advertising-layout class on them. I could cry!) ^_^ I know my words may have insulted some, but GET OVER IT! I was born and raised on a PC. ::Glomps her lovely new HP Pavilion laptop::
Commentary: Ok, college life = harsh. I can no longer be a lazy bum. And trying to re-release MCLoZ is a pain in the butt. You can obviously see that I still have a LOT of coding to go and a few more design tweaks PLUS I wanted to go through ALL the pages and rebuild their coding from scratch and update where I could. There will be a high possibility that 1) The release date is pushed back again. 2) I re-open still trying to get everything up to snuff. 3) Both 1 and 2.
Fear not! I WILL return! I swear it! Especially if I'm going to be a gaming journalist (if I get my choice in the matter LOL) I think a nice lovely accomplished website like mine would look good as a credential, don't you think?
Kehehehe. Yes, fear me. For one day, you may see my name in the staffing section of your Nintendo Power. XD

Updates Returning Fall July 25, 2006, 12:27 PM EST by Maxine MagicFox
Updates: To all my loyal fans, you might have noticed the serious lack of updates for quite a few months now. Many rumors have been floating around from lost of interest in Zelda (I suppose I am now more of a KH-nut than Z-devotee), to... whatever the heck it is that you have all come up with. However, none of it's true. I simply lost interest in working on the site due to time constraints. I'm starting college this fall and with work and working on my novels, my time has become very precious to me. However, I suppose it was the re-opening of ZE, or maybe the purchase of my brand new laptop, or maybe I just got out of my website-slump; whatever the reason, I decided to attempt to work on a new layout for the site. From there, I decided if I created something note-worthy I would take a chance once more on continuing this wonderful six year legend. So, here's the deal. For right now, don't expect another word from me. The site still remains in "archive mode". No updates. Not only am I working on the new design for MCLoZ but I'm also in the process of learning and teaching myself CSS coding. Right now my plans are to return this fall, probably around October. I have a lot of work to do on the site. The layout will be for screen resolutions 1024x768. It will ALSO be Mozilla/FireFox compatible (as FireFox is now my own browser). I also intend to go through all of the old pages and update them. MCLoZ is going to receive a LOT of much-needed changes. If I have to, I will postpone the site to this Winter or even next year. Or, if school gets the better of me, I'll throw the whole idea away. So, I will tell you right now to keep an eye open for updates. Nothing is for certain at this point. AND STOP ASKING: I will not be taking staff members, affiliates, or fan-art/fiction submittions! ... I can't on my hand these days how many times I check my mailbox. If you have mail that hasn't been replied to, either it's lost forever in my mailbox, or I just never got around to reading it, or maybe is sitting in there still unread.
Commentary: ^_^ I liked that, someone e-mailed me at one point asking me if I had lost interest in Zelda. No, that's not the case at all. However, I won't lie. Kingdom Hearts now rates far higher than Zelda could even come close to touching.
Also, as a fair warning, if you are expecting an extra kewl super-mature theme and layout celebrating the upcoming Twilight Princess game - GET OUT NOW! You'll want to run as far and as fast as you can. I have always prized the kiddish-cuteness of Zelda over maturity, and this new layout absolutely reflects that. Didn't you get that idea from the opening splash page?
If you really want my honest opinion as far as Twilight Princess: I COULDN'T CARE LESS. "Just another game." Is about the best thought I have towards it. Is my interest in Zelda waning? No, but TP doesn't help. I look forward to Phantom Hourglass more than TP, and until they come out with a kiddish look with the difficulty to match, I will forever continue to be more devoted to KH.
<3 KH2 made me drool... I swear... I finished it within 48 hours (over the period of a week or more - purchased the day of release) and I still can't get over it's awesomeness. Sora and Roxas <3. And I think my favorite Limit absolutely HAD to be All's End. I'd like to see a Zelda game that could top the first KH game, let alone come close to the second.
And don't even get me started on the official guide book for KH2. I bought it just for its looks. Not even the Zelda Prima guides have come close to that much mastery.

Forgive the downtime, please. March 28, 2006, 5:05 PM EST by Maxine MagicFox
Updates: Sorry about the downtime. However, it was clearly necessary as I'm sure you can see. Our Z games bar has been updated to include the recently announced Phantom Hourglass (which the main image will be replace with some fan art once some is released). Our Events Images have been updated, as well. You will also find that I have uploaded the Phantom Hourglass trailer and added it to the Media Trailers and Videos page.
Commentary: If anyone has been paying much attention to my blog, you'll have noticed how long it has taken me to get these updates done due to various family emergencies and general crises (I learned a new word, that is plural for "crisis" ... uhh, sorry... *cough*). These were suppose to be done a lot sooner. Eheh ^_^;
And again, I'm still looking for a new manager for my site! Please contact me if you are interested!

No! It's not a FULL hand over!! March 26, 2006, 1:38 AM EST by Maxine MagicFox
Updates: In the effort of trying to save my poor flooded e-mail box and wasting time answering concerned fans instead of interested likelies, I'm going to answer a few questions that most of you have been sending me. 1) NO! This is not a full hand over. You don't have to worry about a random idiot getting a hold of the site and changing MCLoZ. I'm NOT going anywhere. I'm simply looking for someone to do the dirty work and I'll handle the management end and fire the kid if he doesn't do what I want. 2) It is NOT first come first serve! Nor am I picking someone at random. I am interviewing them. I am taking and contacting references. And even if I do make a choice, the newly-in-charge will be nothing more than a simple staff member who won't even have the password to load things up. He will undergo a rigorous period of judgement in which I'll set him tasks (probably things off my To-Do List) and see if he handles them well. Extra Note: Applicants, don't ask what reference said what about you. I'm not going to tell to protect the references involved. I won't even say if you got a good or bad review. DON'T ASK! 3) DON'T e-mail me if you don't know HTML and don't have any experience. A waste of time. Forget it. If you haven't been a staff member of at least one site and have at least one reference, you're just wasting mine and your time. 4) Yes, some art skills are required! I forgot to mention this before. No, you do not have to be able to change the site design. However, you must be capable of tearing images from a video file such as quicktime. (Think: a new trailer comes out - you will need to tear screenshots from it and post them in the gallery!) Image quality counts! So, honestly, I hope you have Adobe Photoshop. 5) No, you don't need to know anime and manga. The anime and manga reviews section is mine, actually, and I'd kindly prefer you to STAY OUT! You just need to know Zelda. I believe that's enough for now. If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask, and if more FAQs pop up I will post them up here.
Commentary: Maybe that will stop some of the stupid repeated questions. Guys, I've been doing this for six years. I was doing this mess while you guys were still thumb-sucking babies! Have SOME faith in me. Though ^_^ I am honored by sites such as Zelda Legacy who have been so worried that the webmaster actually wanted to set up a Moderator position with me. Thanks guys. It's not necessary, but I'm glad that my fans really do care about my site.
Now... I'm off to bed. Good night.... zZzZzZzZ

Seeking new management. March 25, 2006, 1:28 PM EST by Maxine MagicFox
Updates: You will have noticed that updates have stopped on MCLoZ. In between work and attempting to focus solely on my writing and college which is rapidly coming up. It's been a hard decision trying to come up what to do with MCLoZ but I think I finally have an idea: A six year old site. Right now without much updating going on, the viewer starts have remained at a constant 400-700. It's my pride and joy and I would love to continue it, however, with me going off to college and so forth, it's time for me to shift my full attention towards my writing and whatever future career I choose. I really don't want to close my site, but I also don't want to simply hand my site down to some kid who will change my site as he sees fit and ultimately it will no longer be MCLoZ. I have invested so much time and energy and love into it, I would rather close it than risk it suffering such a fate. What I would like to do is exactly what Zelda Legends has done. While Khuffie and David are still the webmasters, they are now nothing more than overseers and it is now L-o-S who has full control over the site. Yes, it's still handing down the site, the main difference though is I'm still the head webmaster and can interject if the newly appointed kid does something I disagree with and I can still project my main ideas towards the site and see that it continues in the same direction. Now, I just need to find someone worthy enough of this spot. Ultimately if I don't find anyone I will just close the site down, but let's give it a try. I'm going to be very picky. I would like to find someone who has experience with HTML and CSS and at least a nodding acquaitance with PHP. They must also know most, if not all, Zelda games. They must be willing to be the webmasters and all work will fall on them, though they can recruit staff members on their own, of course. They must be willing to acknowledge the fact that while they are the webmasters, it is still my site and I will protest if I don't like what you are doing, and you can't make huge alterations (such as a design change) without my approval. You must also be willing to work under my site's priority base. I have always followed a more 'eccentric' path than most other websites. The main focus of MCLoZ has always been the FAQs and strategy pages. While most sites these days have a surplus of screenshots and multimedia and maybe at least a walkthrough and a hearts locations guide and one or two things more, the opposite is the truth for MCLoZ. View my LttP Page and you'll begin to understand. You will also note that I even went so far as to collect screenshots FOR EVERY PAGE as well. Some of the more popular sections included The Zelda Secrets and Oddities which were supplied by viewers. Also The Beta Zelda Files. If anyone is interested or would like to share criticism, please e-mail me and we'll talk. I'm very interested in what you might have to say. I really don't want to close my site, but I just don't have the time for it anymore. I've put a lot of thought into this and I hope it all comes out right.
Commentary: Thanks everyone. It's been fun and I hope I can manage to squeeze at least a few more years out of my precious site.

Clean up and upgrade day... January 22, 2006, 10:30 AM EST by Maxine MagicFox
Updates: If anything the latest forum episode taught me it's how important it is to keep up with upgrades. Speaking of which... that goes for the Gallery, too. Today will be spent upgrading things, and even installing a few more mods into the forums, more than likely. If you find anything strange for either one today, take no notice. I'm on it! I promise!
Commentary: And... I SERIOULSY need to reorganize my harddrive files and my mailbox and get things back in ready order to continue the site. Especially my poor files. Since the Image Gallery I've kinda had things sprawled everywhere. And my poor Image Projects folder is disgustingly overflowed. Time to clean that out, too. I think I've even got a few images in there that weren't place up.... *Sigh*

Talk about a hectic week January 21, 2006, 5:06 PM EST by Maxine MagicFox
Updates: Twenty-one new images added to the Minish Cap official art page in our Image Gallery. Some really nice pieces, too. Enjoy! I'll be searching for some more stuff, too.
Commentary: It's been a pretty hectic week for me. Anime has been slowly helping me along. I swear, my blog has turned into an anime review section rather than a life review, hahaha. Anyways, after finding my LttP game for my gameboy and replaying it (my SNES is no longer hooked up *sigh*) it's really re-inspired me to get back into playing and chatting about Zelda. w00t! Think I'm ready to get back to updating the site again! ..... Hopefully...

So long to another staff member... January 16, 2006, 2:43 PM EST by Maxine MagicFox
Updates: The forums are going strong! Be sure to join today!
Commentary: Sorry, this really has little to do with anything but ::shrugs:: ... I've made a few posts about the two hidden staff members of MCLoZ that the veterans may recall: my cat, Max of seven years (here since the beginning), and my Dog, Blou, who joined a year later. Their contributions have always included the many times they have dragged me away from my screen to fill their food bowl, pet them, and/or throw a much slobbered on toy across the room.
It is with the deepest of sadness that I must report that Max has left us... -_- He was put to sleep today after he became ill and we took him to the vet to find that his kidneys were failing him. Farewell, Max.... my precious baby-kitty.
::Remembers fondly the one night a few years ago Max jumped up on the computer while she was working, pressed a button on the keyboard and activated the printer that sent him dashing out the room:: -_- Tch... I'm going to go now and finish crying. Sorry...

Forums Re-Installed! Let's hope this works. January 6, 2006, 6:25 PM EST by Maxine MagicFox
Updates: The Forums and its database have been deleted and reinstalled. You must RE-REGISTER if you had a previous account on the forums. Come on, everyone! Post and let's get these forums back to the way they use to be! Edit: forums still seem to be acting up. Try to enjoy yourselves as much as you can while I try to figure out what's going on. Don't be too horrified if your post disappears.
Commentary: Well... the modifications such as Quick Reply haven't been re-loaded just yet. I'll work on those later. Right now, I need a break. I've been working on this all day. ::Collapses::

Forums to be cleaned out and reset. January 4, 2006, 10:49 PM EST by Maxine MagicFox
Updates: I come with bad news but I bring gifts! An update: This month's Anime and Manga Review has arrived. ^_^ This month's anime is based on Rozen Maiden. A gorgeous anime that my sister and I have fallen in love with. However, you may notice something remarkable. The anime is NOT licensed (more detail included for those that may not know what that means). It was a tough decision but I decided to go ahead and do it. I want to broaden the horizons of my viewers and I think this does just that. Don't worry, in the future, not many unlicensed anime will EVER be reviewed. Now... on to the bad news. The forums are still up on the verge of havoc and while David and I have no clue what's going on, we've decided the best way to take care of it just might be to delete the forums and reload them. So, the forums are temporarily down and in the near future you may potentially find they don't exist. YES! THAT MEANS YOU WILL HAVE TO RE-REGISTER ONCE AGAIN!!!
Commentary: This might take a little longer than normal. David is giving me a few lessons on my panel in attempt to teach me a few tricks and techniques. ^_^ However... I have to learn them first. So, I'll be stumbling for a few hours, no doubt. I have work tomorrow so things will start happening sometime after 4 or the next day when I don't have work (unless they ask me to come in... I do need the money, you know). So... wish me luck everyone. I'll let you guys know when the forums are functional again.

The Forums are now back up! January 1, 2006, 4:38 PM EST by Maxine MagicFox
Updates: Much thanks goes out to my host, David of Zelda Legends, for assisting me in getting the forums back into proper working order. The only side effect is that posts made any later than the 27th are now wiped out and the post count for every user was reset back to 0. Sorry. And, sorry to say that the Anime and Manga review will be slightly late because of these events and due to sheer laziness - LOL, I won't lie.
Commentary: Oh, and in case any of you care, I decided to give up the blog I had created on my own. Actually a buddy showed me his blog with a really nice template so, it gave me a slightly different opinion on blogging programs. You can now find my blog on Live Journal.
