Thinks are ready and in place |
September 27, 2007, 6:40 AM EST by Maxine MagicFox |
| Today's Updates: *Later Today I will post Torture Items and Zelda Oddities*
I think for right now I'm doing away with the whole fan submittion day thing until things in my life become more stable. It's not a rough semester but meh, things are still rough enough between running from there and between school - not to mention I've gotten a few games that I like to play and I've made mention before that I'm a gamer before I'm a webmaster. ~_^
The site is ready for October 1st. Yep, there's going to be a few little nitpicky details updated on the site and there's going to be a special project released (what? you really think I wasn't doing ANYTHING on the site?). I know you guys are going to enjoy it, though it really isn't going to be 100% complete until after I've played Phantom Hourglass and can fill in some holes.
The other thing that I'm going to do for this game and Frank has expressed interest in this, too. I'm going to blog about this game as I go through it. Normally I post my blogs on my Live Journal and rant and rave like I did with Twilight Princess. I'm thinking, this game, I'm going to post up more specialized rants about each stage of the game as I progress through it. Frank is also going to try and contribute his own entries. :3 We are both VERY excited about this game and can't WAIT to give it a spin. I really look forward to playing wtih the stylus. Play FFIII for the DS gave me a feel for the capabilities of stylus-only and I'm already aware of some of the issues such as turning corners and running through towns, but I wanna try swinging a sword. *Squee* It looks FUN. Unfortunately, I might not get my game until the 2nd. I dunno if I can get a ride up to Gamestop on the 1st. >_< Grrr...
On a more humorous and unrelated note, is it just me or does it seem that as time goes on more and more people are giving up on Timeline theories. Before I thought I was the solitary soul standing against these fools and their silly notions, now it seems I'm saying "that's how I feel" to more and more people. While it's true that there are basic games connected to one another, isn't it just funner to view the games as "remakes". Different editions of similiar characters. It seems this is how Aonuma felt about Phantom Hourglass.
Ok, I think I'm done rambling.

How did I botch that? Gak! |
September 23, 2007, 4:24 PM EST by Maxine MagicFox |
Today's Updates: Well, I WAS going to announce that I now had all the wallpapers added to the 1280x1024 resolution. However, after examing the gallery to double check things I suddenly discovered that the images that I had downloaded under the assumption from other galleries that they were labelled properly, turned out to be 1024x768 resolutions. Right now, only AoL, TP, and PH(of course) are of the correct resolutions. I will have to go through the other sections one at a time to find their corresponding PROPER 1280x1024 resolutions.
You have NO IDEA how annoyed this has made me since I spent over an hour putting all of that up. Stupid of me not to have checked before hand.

Phantom Hourglass wallpapers added |
September 22, 2007, 9:34 PM EST by Maxine MagicFox |
Today's Updates: Finally! I real update! All the wallpapers that were released on The Zelda Universe site and the Official PH Flash site have been added to the Image Gallery.
That also means that I opened the 1280x1024 section. I've actually been meaning to do this for a while. This weekend I will finish getting all the wallpapers up into that section that I have. Unfortunately I don't have all the same ones from the other galleries, but, meh, it doesn't matter I suppose.
Also announcing two new pages in the Twilight Princess and Phantom Hourglass sections. Links to all of the Official Sites on the net, Japanese and European included too. All of these sites have beautiful features to them and some I'm just finding. I really want to post all of them in all of the gaming sections. It will be one of those small projects I do as time goes on.
Also a minor warning. Though you guys can't or shouldn't be able to see it, I updated the site's coding just a touch in a few spots. If there are any errors spotted visibly on the site, please tell me. I've been working all day to attempt to clean up things to make the pages more compatible between browsers. So annoying!
... 8 days to the release of Phantom Hourglass and counting.
Also this weekend I'm going to strive to get the fan submittions up and released this Tuesday. The LILoT section was updated that one Tuesday when I made the "false" promise (-_- don't even wanna talk about it) but I just never made the announcement with all the extra stuff tacked onto the post.

Site coding updates made! |
September 21, 2007, 8:24 PM EST by Maxine MagicFox |
Today's Updates: If you are using a Mac browser called Safari (probably are) or are using IE 7, you might notice that there are a few changes made to the side link navigations. Very MINOR alterations. Back when I was coding things in CSS I kept getting the rediculous error in IE 7 where the links did not want to conform to the Firefox's style of the links matching up to the dividers. And when I went over to Safari which enabled CSS there was a big glaring fault in that there were huge spaces in between each of these links.
After earning a little more experience and understanding of the two browsers and what might possibly be effecting things, I fixed the problems. Safari's was easy in that I just had to omit a useless code. IE7 actually made my coding a little more clumsier (dear GOD I hate IE 7) however, the point is, the site's template should now run PERFECTLY in all browsers. If there are any other problems of varying nature or new problems have arisen, PLEASE contact me IMMEDIATELY! I can't fix it if I don't know about it.

PH - Walmart Preorder Special |
September 19, 2007, 8:56 PM EST by Maxine MagicFox |
|
The hype grows thick as fans anxiously await October 1st and the release of the newest Zelda game, Phantom Hourglass for the Nintendo DS. Don't be the one left out of the excitement! Be sure to pre-order your copy and have it ready.
And guess what, for those of you who pre-order from Wal-mart, not only do you get your copy of Phantom Hourglass, but a special DS Lite skin and stylus!
Don't panic for those of you who have pre-ordered elsewhere. Don't forget that nearly all places such as Gamestop and EBGames will refund your pre-orders!
My own personal thoughts: ^_^; I was hoping to be able to get over to Gamestop tomorrow in order to put the money down to pre-order. It looks like I might be heading to Walmart instead. The skin looks like it's a simple sticker and I'm not sure I really would want to put it on my DS, but... it's ZELDA!! I'm not going to turn it down!

Zelda News Re-Cap |
September 19, 2007, 11:45 AM EST by Maxine MagicFox |
|
Last month, the officiaal english Phantom Hourglass website opened up. Included on the website are several images, all of them are those that have been previously released, but a new video, and even more interesting, two new wallpapers that I will load up to our Image Gallery at a later time.
More recent, however, a contest is being held in honor of the release of Phantom Hourglass. From September 13 to October 26. All participants have to do is text the word "Zelda" to the number 2076 on your cellphones. You will then receive these following three questions:
Question 1: The Zelda series' heroic main character ranks as one of Nintendo's most popular characters. What is his name?
Question 2: Name the pretty pirate captain Link seeks to rescue in Phantom Hourglass.
Question 3: In the Legend of Zelda series, what powerful relic is made up of three golden triangles?
Answer them and you will be entered to win a trip to Nintendo World, the Nintendo store in New York, in which you will be entitled to a closed-door shopping spree and will be given your very own copy of Phantom Hourglass and a special edition DS.
Good luck, players!!

LILoT Update Tomorrow! |
September 11, 2007, 10:18 PM EST by Maxine MagicFox |
|
I wanted to jump on here real quick to tell you that by 9am tomorrow I will have an update posted for the Fan Submittion week. I want to just go through and edit a few things and have to compile the extras that go along with it. However, since I have a test to study for tomorrow in my Contemporary Sociology class, I'm cutting work off at 10:30 to study and get to bed.
I am also aware of the new PH screens that have been released along with a new mini-Zelda title. I will try and get that posted up tomorrow as well.
Last weekend was a complete bust as I didn't get any work done. Instead I spent all day playing the Touhou game series, namely Imperishable Night and Mountain of Faith, though Perfect Cherry Blossom is still the best in my opinion. I'm not a very good player but I am slowly adventuring into the normal modes, especially in IN where I have become very proficient at 1ccing easy mode with all four girls - right now I am unlocking the solos after deleting the game file that came with the game to attempt to do things on my own and enjoy the game to its fullest.
^_^ Please, may I invite ALL of you to at least try the quick download demos that are on that site I have linked to (I realize it is in japanese, but if I can find them anyone can - and if you can't just e-mail me!) And if you really like them, think about purchasing them (or visiting a certain affiliates' site but I'll let you try to figure that one out on your own since I do NOT support pirating...). For those who are inquisitive but cautious and rather would know what they are downloading before they download it, check out this random youtube video for Mountain of Faith.
I did finally manage to 1cc (aka used no continues) PCB which in my mind is the hardest of the three main games. I always do fine right up until I take on the Prismriver Sisters. *Cries* They are so evil and love to take all of my lives. And then while Youmu isn't too bad as long as I'm paying attention, Yuyuko comes to gobble up all of my remaining lives like the evil glutton that she is! I HOPE YOU CHOKE ON THEM YOU EVIL GHOST! However, as bad as that seems, I tried my hand at Extra Stage ... o_o; During one run I did manage to make it past Chen and met Ran... who subsequently killed me with her first attack. GAK! -_-; I have a ways to go before I'm good enough for Extra Stages.
Oh and I 1cced easy mode on MoF, too. *Squee* Kanako's final spell "Mountain of Faith" is pure evilness. Hopefully ZUN releases a patch soon to correct some of the evilnesses and glitches that are in the game.
... Ok, I think I'm done ranting... work awaits!

Brief fill-in behind the stages |
September 5, 2007, 12:05 PM EST by Maxine MagicFox |
|
I'm posting this rather quickly in between my classes so please bare with the abruptness and lack of depth.
First, I apologize for the lack of updates. Between work, school, and some home issues (with which I have not discussed even on my LJ) the site has really taken the backseat. However, I'm going to try to change some of that.
My main concern now that I am back in school is Fan Submittion Weekends. They didn't work out great to begin with and now with school... well weekends will be my big moment to try to get work done. I really don't want to put all of my effort into just getting up fan submittions and wasting the few days that I have!
So, Fan Submittion Weekends are out the window. No! Don't cry yet! Instead what I will do, and this is going to sound awkward, fan submittions will be updated on Tuesdays with Torture Items and Zelda Oddities divided between the weeks. In other words: next Tuesday I will post Torture Items, the Tuesday after I will post Zelda Oddities.
I will still present the same information that was provided those days with the site reviews and upcoming projects and what not.
I HOPE this works. ^_^; This is going to be a big test for the first few weeks and I'm not making any promises. But, let's give it a try and just have faith in me! I'm doing my very best and NO I have not given up on the site.

Camp Hyrule Registration Starts |
August 12, 2007, 9:43 PM EST by Maxine MagicFox |
|
Saddly this year, there will not be a Camp Hyrule as we all know and remember it. Well, actually I'm not really sure what they are going to be doing. Frome the sound of the Post Mess, it sounds like there might be a chatroom of some sort. Well, whatever it is, most importantly is the totally kewl Camp Hyrule Sweepstakes that they will be doing.
Starting tomorrow you can sign up to win a life-size statue of our Hero of Time and Twilight, Link! From the image - it looks nothing short of spectacular, too.
In other news, and it's really a pity that I can't highlight this a little better, but, the last and final section of the Official Phantom Hourglass website has been launched - finally! Saddly there's not really much to go on if you aren't Japanese-fluent (which I am not), but it would appear that it's showing off boat designs and some of the purchasable accessories. *Drools* I WANT I WANT I WANT!!
Oh and you're liable to notice a simple green box in the corner beneath this button - click it and it leads you to an advertisement for the official Nintendo Player's Guides (Japanese, of course).

MCLoZ Fan Fiction Network Launched! |
August 12, 2007, 4:26 PM EST by Maxine MagicFox |
| Today's Updates: My ultra super secret that I've been keeping for the past month as I worked every so diligently on it (and caused me no amount of stress this morning): MCLoZ Fan Fiction Network has now launched!
I still have to put a link to it in the sidebars and I'm going up to update the top Even Images, but for right now, this will have to do. I'm sick of looking at my computer! Bleh! I even finished quicker than even I expected. So - BE HAPPY!
^_^ I look forward to reading your guys' materials and I will work hard to get the old stories back up onto that network. Enjoy everyone!!
Obviously, since we have a Featured Fan Art part of the Weekend Fan Submittions, it's my hope that I will be able to start adding Fan Fiction to that as well, but that won't be until a month or so or until I deem that enough short stories/chapters have been added to make it interesting. Obviously, those that were mentioned on the site will become the items listed in the "Featured Stories" section of the network. ^_^

A need to rant - big time! |
August 12, 2007, 3:12 PM EST by Maxine MagicFox |
|
So I have come to the conclusion that there is more to Murphy's laws than he himself probably realized. I don't think anyone realizes the full weight of their curse and once they do it is easily forgotten and taken for granted. This week has been hectic and I more than just making a random excuse for the absence of certain Fan Submittions, this is my "need-to-rant" about Murphy and his accursed book of laws.
It all happened Tuesday when I said I promise to get things up for you guys. I was just finishing up on Gaia, then I was launching Photoshop with intents to work on some images for a secret project and then I was going to do the Oddities I had promised. In the middle of Photoshop launching, I try to bring an image from the net - at the same time the net loses connection and photoshop crashes. I don't think much of it and wait for the connection to come back. Let's just say... it didn't come back. Dad had moved the modem box and we all suspected that something happened in the move - and an hour later he had to leave. Let's just say my temper was through the roof. Wednesday I was going to Six Flags in New Jersey (yes, I had a WONDERFUL time) so I decided that I would just wait until the weekend in the end to get everything up and going.
Thursday and Friday ... XD I READ! I'm over half way through Harry Potter, btw. In case you guys want to know where, Harry and co. has just been caught by some Snatchers because Harry couldn't keep his mouth shut.
Saturday I get up and realize "I know.. I need to work on submittions..." Instead of doing that immediatly, I get sidetracked on that side project. By the afternoon though I throw up my hands and say "I'm so close with this project, I'm going to hold off submittions and try to get this done! This will make up for everything! I'm so psyched to get it up right now!"
This morning I was up at 8 to put up some finishing touches in hopes of trying to get it up by 1pm today. All I had to do was finish some basic organization and then make a few images. THAT'S where the problem hit - at about 10am I open up Photoshop and it goes through the initializing and stuff easily and then - it's gone. o_O;
Thinking not much of it, I restart my computer and try again - pcs are screwy sometimes, afterall. But it does it again! O_O *High alert status initiated* WTH IS GOING ON?! I go onto the guest account, it works there, I try on my account, turning off various apps on my comp and STILL NOTHING! NOOOO!! I run downstairs and my poor dad gets attacked again about my computer and he sits for an hour trying to figure things out while I hover nearby with tears in my eyes. (I know, I cry so easily! And there's nothing worse than computer frustration! And it's not just ANY program - it's the third most important program after wordpad and my FTP program.)
We eat breakfast and dad goes to finish up a project on the house and tells me he'll work on it later. NOOOOOO!! I want it fixed NOW! My fans! My deadlines!
Feeling defeated I bring up the net and type into google some keywords to hopefully find anyone that might have had my same problem. XD *Gleam* I found something!! It seems that the crash on Tuesday was the cause. Something about preference log and all that - meh, whatever. The solution was to press ctrl+alt+shift at startup and to select the delete of the preferences file. >_< THREE BUTTONS?!
New Murphy's law: A three hour problem will have a three button answer.
So - Fan Submittion weekend is shot due to various incidents that include my own faults and the faults of universal laws that no man or science has yet acheived to surpass. I will now diligently proceed to try and create those images I had intended to create and hopefully get this launched by six or so today.

Official PH Art and Skipped News |
August 7, 2007, 6:46 AM EST by Maxine MagicFox |
|
Six new pieces of Official Art have been released by Nintendo and all can be viewed in the Image Gallery. Most of them are actually going to be hi-res duplicates of the ones that I pulled off of the Official PH website.
Speaking of the Official PH website, if anyone has cared to view it recently, you might have noticed "New" posted on a tab. If you go to investiage this, it leads you into the multiplayer section where you can watch four newly added videos that are a tutorial to how to play the muliplayer game - unfortunately it's in Japanese, of course. This has actually been up for a while and I meant to include it in my News Recap post. Sorry.
Oh, and last but not least, also in our Media Gallery, you will find a newly touched-up version of the Phantom Hourglass box art, complete with Wi-Fi logo. It seems the previous version was just an unfinished pre-release. Several things have been modified, I'll let you find them all ^_^. The old copy is still in the gallery and there it will stay.
(Zelda Oddities will be posted later on today. Sorry, something came up yesterday. Until then, enjoy the openings to my favorite anime series (in two seasons). *Squee* Kai isn't as bloody as the first season but dear God it still makes me drool. Ep5 was beautiful. Where is Ep6? *Cries* The anime is called Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni (Kai) - or the english DVD calls it Higurashi - When they Cry. Kai is currently being released in Japan. I'm SO waiting for the box set of this anime and purchasing it. The dubs are horrid, but I listen to the sub track anyway. Umm, lots of blood and horror and killer-lolis so, kids stay away. For more info, wikipedia it.)

Sidetracked from Sunday... |
August 6, 2007, 12:21 AM EST by Maxine MagicFox |
|
*Zoey, Maxine's cat, and Blou, the family dog, stare up at Maxine from their spots lieing on the floor. Maxine, however, is completely engrossed in the newest Harry Potter book*
Blou: I wonder if she realizes she let down her fans again.
Zoey: Aww, she tried. She got three done before her downloads finished and she caught up with her favorite anime series Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni Kai.
Blou: But instead of returning she picked up Etrian Odyssey instead.
Zoey: She had every intention of returning! Except she went clothes shopping.
Blou: How does one go clothes shopping and come home with a thick Harry Potter book?
Zoey: Well, it was just sitting there on the shelf. And she hasn't been totally involved with the book all day since then. She worked some on getting her room unpacked.
Blou: And her computer sat there, untouched with the Zelda Oddities document opened.
Zoey: It's a sad life, but I'm sure, if she wasn't so engrossed in the book, that she would promise all of her fans that she will do her very best to get an update posted just before she runs off to work.
Blou: I wouldn't bet my dog food on that one.
Zoey: Have faith in Maxine! Her heart may waver but its in the right place!
----
~_^ I promise I'll have SOMETHING up SOMETIME tomorrow!
----
Blou: My question in the end, though, is why didn't she work on it some yesterday?
Zoey: From the way I hear it, she has been working on one of those "upcoming projects" she reviewed in a previous Sunday. But, she's not going to let anyone know about it just yet. It will be released soon, though there is still much work to be done on it.
Blou: Not letting anyone know? I thought she posted something on her LJ about it.
Zoey: Shut up, stupid dog!

Fan Submittion Saturday is back! |
August 4, 2007, 8:48 AM EST by Maxine MagicFox |
Today's Updates: Link's Infinite List of Torture - Items 335-348 submitted by billy, Eiyoko, Penguin dude, Kati, and Stephanie
Fan Site Review
Recently reopened with a new layout, this site definitely has the looks and has been around for a while. However, from what I understand it's passed through a few different webmaster hands, and unfortunately through its journey a lot of its previous content has disappeared. However, it's still a beautiful site that looks like its currently in good hands and I can't wait to see where it goes in the near future - though while their content may have vanished, their community doesn't seem to have. There is one minor particular that does bother me, though. Be careful when you are reading some of their "news". They do not specify whether it is truly news or something that needs to be rumor controlled. For example, there is no Wind Waker Master Quest.
Site Focus: Just Zelda
Design: B+ News/Updates: C- (be careful, they do not post "rumor warnings" in certain news posts) Content: D- Content Quality:A- Community: A++
Fan Site News
I've been away from the community for a length of time so I'm really not very much up on what is going on. However, what did reach my ears is that apparently sites Zelda Universe, Zelda Dungeon, Zelda Legacy, and even The Hylia got hit by some hackers. Fortunately, they are still very much up and running last time I checked them.
There also seems to have been some Annual(?) Zelda Quiz that I missed over at the used-to-be Zelda Blog, hosted by TML himself. I don't know the full details but it looked fun. -_-; I miss all the good stuff.
Don't worry, by next week, I promise to be on top of things again.
Upcoming MCLoZ Feature
Well, this summer has been a bust. School starts back up August 27th and seems like I barely got ANYTHING done. That's the way it goes, though, huh?
Anyways, the next feature that I plan to have up on my site is actually going to appear within the week or sooner depending on when I get my butt around to doing it. I would like to take all of the Fan Site Reviews and place them all up on one page along with a form you viewers can fill out to submit any site that you would like to see reviewed. I have no special qualifications, except that I ask for you to keep in mind that I will be brutally honest as always. ^_^ But it's meant to be constructive and as always I will do my best to help out any webmasters (but please don't ask me to make a design for you or to code your site - I will FIX codes, but beyond that, forget it).
This will help me with the main problem of that, I don't want to review top Zelda sites, but that's mostly all sites that I know link to. The underdog seems to stay the underdog for the very reason that no one wants to pay much attention to him. *Sigh* Such a sad state of affairs.
Well, I'll catch you guys later. I was able to empty my box of Torture Items, but these are easy. The Oddities I might just put up only a few and leave the more recent ones for next weekend. Those are tough because not only do I have to edit and code them, but I also have to determine whether they are truly worthy of the page and which page the belong to. Some are hard to place o_O;. Even now, when I go back to revisit a few oddities I wonder why I put it there and think maybe I should have put it there, but then remember as I go to do that and it stays. Gah! It's just not easy!

News Recap - Tingle and Hourglass |
August 3, 2007, 11:10 PM EST by Maxine MagicFox |
|
Ok, so a few quick things to do some quick recapping for Zelda news that I have previously missed. The most important being the release of this:

The officially announced Phantom Hourglass box cover. It is now viewable in the gallery. Also viewable in the gallery - Freshly Picked Tingle's Rosy Rupee Land has been opened and filled currently with Box Art - including the European Box Art.
On that note, let's side-track into news for the Tingle RPG. The release date has been moved up from September 19th to Septemeber 13. More importantly, though, is the interesting fact that the game will also incorporate an English-language option for those who are interested in importing the game for $49.90!
Ok, I think that's about everything. Oh, and I will be putting in my best effort to do Fan Submittion Weekend even if it means only putting up SOME of the many submittions in my box.

Twilight Princess Section Updates |
July 28, 2007, 10:30 AM EST by Maxine MagicFox |
Today's Updates: Yeah! That's right! Updates! Aren't you proud of me? I told you I did some work while I was away. And at least one of these updates is going to make many of you VERY happy, I'm sure.
First update, Bow and Bomb Upgrades. Where to go when and what to get in order to updrade everything from your quiver to your bomb bags.
Second upate, Ice Block Puzzle Solutions - and this includes the Sacred Grove puzzle, too! While my Heart guide is lacking right now, this page DOES include the solution to the puzzles that blocks one of those mysterious Pieces of Heart.
Tch, those puzzle solutions were the hardest to type up. I did it mostly with the use of several guides around the net and my prima book because guess what - I'm without Nintendo right now. ^_^; My system is somewhere locked away in a box. *Sniffle* I miss my video games. But, my DS keeps me company at the moment. That and Etrian Odyssey which I can't stress how much I have fallen in love with this game.
Oh and I wanted to thank my several of my viewers for posting comments on mine and even my sister's Gaia profiles. ^_^ Thanks guys! Yep, my username on Gaia is Maxine MagicFox. XD I've had this username for the last ten years even before my site, I see no reason why I should go changing it now for anything. XD And I'm so happy, quite a few people even donated a few items to me! *Sheds tears of great joy* One even gave me my treasured fox tail! My avvy looks so kewl now. Thank you all so much! And yes, I'm having lots of fun on Gaia, especially with my sister. Tch, she's such a show off though. Her and her gwee and dark spirit! I'll get one, too! You just wait and see! ... I would love to have a gwee and dark spirit. *Sigh* Playing jigsaws everyday can get boring after a while.

I'm BAAAAAAACK!! Sorta... |
July 26, 2007, 9:09 PM EST by Maxine MagicFox |
|
*Squeee* My internet connection! *Huggles* My beloved! My precious! I've missed you so much. <3 <3 <3 <3
T-T I have been without the internet for nearly two weeks. Why? Because my mom wanted to go ahead and change our phone company to our new area. UNFORTUNATELY the old service doesn't do out here and our new service (Verizon) decided that they couldn't hook us up until the 30th. Now... the irony of all IRONIES is of course the fact that it is now the 26th. We pick up our phone and... it's been connected. -_-; People amaze me, I swear.
I do have a few things completed for you guys. >_> Of course, I couldn't get MUCH done at ALL. *Sigh* And this total ruined summer of all things. Now, ok, I guess you guys are really looking forward to hearing the magic words "Fan Submittion Weekend" right? Sorry. This weekend we are finishing up, but after that, next weekend, I'm going to try to get back on track.
I SWEAR IT! ... Oh and Frankie has a staff project turned in. ^_^ Expect that sometime... soon.
*Sigh* Now I have to go catch up with my forums, my gallery, my Live Journal, Gaia... my e-mail is all set.
DON'T EVEN TALK TO ME ABOUT ZELDA NEWS! I will go through and try to review and see if I missed anything seriously noteworthy. If I have, expect it up here, but if it's not that great of an announcement, I'm not going to bother.

An apology for absense... |
July 4, 2007, 7:39 AM EST by Maxine MagicFox |
|
I feel that I really owe you guys a major apology for my sudden and very strange disappearance over the weekend and the last few days. There are just some things in life that you can not prepare for.
First, I would like to mention that this whole month is going to be very trying in the way of updates and my own life. I've sorta been keeping it off the net, but it's time to make it official. My family and I are moving, just into another county. My parents have purchased their first house (woohoo for them), but it's going to be such a chore moving all of our stuff over. We can start moving things in on the 13th, so, about around there, things are going to get very sparse for MCLoZ. I'm sorry! But there isn't much that I can do. Things should be back to normal by August, though.
Second - however, this doesn't account for my current disappearance, does it? Again that little "some things you can't prepare for." You guys know I have a younger 14 year old sister, right? She is an avvid player on Gaia Online, actually. And last week, she invited me to try. Being 23, it has been rather shocking how much I've ended up enjoying the whole experience. Especially towns - where I annoy and tick off several players on there while me and Rissa do some very childish things - hey we only live once in this life!
Fan Submittion weekend was terminated due to Rissa's request that I make her a new profile. My precious sister and I spent the whole weekend with Photoshop as we went through hundreds of images determining how to make this profile look good. Now, I will not hesitate to tell you how much I LOATHE Myspace and its creative boundaries - I can't stand it. Gaia's profiles are the EASIEST things to manipulate and they look NICE! when you are done.
Check out our finished project: Eve636's / Rissa's new profile look. The basic layout was taken from my own profile style that I downloaded from the internet, but manipulated and fixed with a new background image. So, we actually both look alike. I COULD link you to my profile - however - if you stare at Rissa's (aka Eve636's) profile long enough, I'm sure you'll find me somewhere in her buddy list. ....What IS my Gaia name anyway, huh? XD
I wish I could say that I am sorry for my absense, but I'm afraid that's just not the truth. Me and Eve are having a WONDERFUL time. ^_^; If you see us on, don't be afraid to come up and chat. Though, we can both get a little crazy on there. ... T-T She loves to call me freak and n00b! *Sigh* Well, I'm almost done saving up for a pair of fox ears.

Official Phantom Hourglass Due Date! |
July 4, 2007, 7:24 AM EST by Maxine MagicFox |
|
The official release date was announced over the weekend. Phantom Hourglass is now currently scheduled for an October 1st release date for America! Woohoo!!
Continuing, Phantom Hourglass continues to make a splash in the world as sales continue to grow at an astonishing, record-breaking amount!
Humorously, though, it seems that Aonuma, the guy who is only second next to Miyamoto in creating the Zelda series, stated in the recent edition of Nintendo Power that he would love to see a remake of The Wind Waker for the Wii. To be quite honest, so would I! Only if they spruced it up with different dungeon layouts a few more extra dungeons, and possibly some more treasure hunting quests to do out in the sea! XD

Some Z News and Site Updates |
June 26, 2007, 7:46 AM EST by Maxine MagicFox |
|
Now, I'm not sure how long it has been posted, but just with the surge of new news, it has come to my attention that 1Up has Phantom Hourglass listed as being released this November 1, 2007. While I'm not sure if this is 100% accurate or not, 1Up is fairly reputable, and besides, it looks like a better day as opposed to "Holidays 2007".
They also have a very nice Phantom Hourglass review up that you might be interested in reading.
In other news, the stuff I'm not reporting, it appears that Princess Zelda has been confirmed in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Kewl. Even more kewler, though, is the music they released that will be on the game:
OoT SSBB Medley - SUPER SWEET!
And I have a special prize for you guys, for a limited time only, you can enjoy this awesome song in our new Mp3 Player! ^_^ I hope you guys enjoy listening to it as much as I am!

Late night or early morning? |
June 25, 2007, 9:08 AM EST by Maxine MagicFox |
Today's Updates: Well, you know, nothing ever goes quite right in this world. I was going to have this up by 10 yesterday, but by the time I had got done with it, it actually turned out to be 1 at night. Even in the images I made you can check the time. So, I decided to close up for the night and put the finishing touches on this morning. You'll forgive me, won't you? Oh, btw, because I wrote this last night, I'm sure there are a LOT of spelling and grammar mistakes. *Sigh* I was tired. And you do have to give me some credit. I tore myself away from a new DS game (Castlevanian: Portrait of Ruin!) JUST to put up this new update.
Link's Infinite List of Torture has been updated with: Items 333-334 submitted by Poli and Super Smash Bros. Fanatic
Zelda Secrets and Oddities has been updated with (I am "Me!" btw)
Zelda Secerts and Oddities - Peculiar Glitches:
- TWW - The Mirrored Compass | Me!
- TP - Action Replay Reveals Unseen Monsters | Me!
Zelda Secrets and Oddities - Unusual Observations:

Fan Site Review
This is actually a site of one of my closer friends, Lysia, and it should also clear the air about whether I wish to do this to affiliates or not, as this site is indeed an affiliate. Please forgive me if you feel as if I have some biased towards her, but I will be very honest in my review of her site. However, there is one major point that I must make when I do my review. Unfortunately, I group together fan-fictions, fan-art, and forums together into community. While this is a fairly good system for most sites and this one as well, I'm afraid it just doesn't do justicy for Lysia's site. She is incredibly fan-fiction and fan-art oriented. While her other areas may receive some poor grades depending on how you look at it, with most sites, one of the things that you have to consider is the site's focus. You just won't go to Lysia's site looking for tips and tricks (which I group as "content"), you go to her site to read stories and look at art by fans.

Fan Site News
Zelda's Domain is currently an affiliate of mine, despite their excessive down time. Both me and the webmaster, Nathan, go WAY back. And when his site is up and remains up, it is generally an AWESOME site. To my knowledge, Nathan is one of the few who is as interested as I am in getting up actual real game content that does not just pertain to the latest Nintendo press release. Yes, Nathan is awesome - and yes, he paid me to say that XD (j/k). Back on topic, though, at the moment his site is down (again) but this time, he's more focused on doing a complete staff rehaul as opposed to just a designing and technical rehaul. Meh, you can read all about his quest for staff members in this article that he posted up.
Upcoming MCLoZ Feature
One of things that I would like to see MCLoZ have someday in the near future is *shifty eyes* rom saves! While I will not supply links to the actual roms or emulators, I would like to try to gain a collection of rom saves at various points in several games. Hehehe, it's a hopeful dream, but it is something I would like to act upon one day. Hrrrm, maybe I could attack Frankie and convince him to help me in this endeavor. But, that's a little way off, I've got bigger projects that I would like to fry and toss up.

Ok, sure, it's sprites and not really a drawing, but it's still VERY fun! .... Why wasn't I invited to that little get together?
MCLoZ Spotlight
Today's spotlight is on *drumroll* ..... well, ok, I'm actually wanting to draw attention to something else that MCLoZ uses but isn't MCLoZ material. Hope you'll forgive me, but I think it's my duty to do my own part when I see a service I'm using slowly dieing for no good reason.
Our news system, or CMS, or whatever you call the darn thing. In Decemember 2002, I was introduced to the Coranto News System. On January 19, 2003, I officially launched it up on my site, at first only as a mere method to enable and allow my precious staff members to also make posts since I do not allow staff members FTP access of any sort and I hand code all of my documents. Since then, it has grown to be something more on my site and has become almost integral. With this current design, it's importance became even bigger as I programmed it to handle the Zelda News Infocenter, one of the most viewed pages on MCLoZ. The program controls everything, from the headlines at the side bar, to taking them down after a certain number are up, to posting them on both this main page and on that secondary page.
More than anything, though, is the fact that it allows me to easily design ALL of these elements. Forgive me for speaking out against something, but I feel it must be done. I operated CuteNews for a while and got very aquainted with it on a blog site that I had launched shortly before I was introduced to Live Journal. I operated the program for a near solid year and the best thing that I can say about the program - at least it worked. I do not understand why so many sites use the program. It's absolutely AWEFUL! There's no customization whatsoever. You can't even take fields out of the actual news post system! And don't even get me started on the archiving system. You have "short news" and "long news" fields and a minor subject field. And the user levels were rediculous, with very few capabilities to tell what a user can and cannot do. On Coranto, if you do not want a certain user to view a field to type something into it - they are not going to see that field.
Coranto has everything that CuteNews has and then some - if you are willing to take the time and read a little documentation. Then, the world is open to you. Whatever way you wish to customize things, it's up to you. There is only ONE thing that I do not like concerning Coranto. I highly advise against going onto the support forum and asking for support. The programmers are nothing short of stuck up *******. *Sigh* However... it's something that must be done occassionally. Just hold your tongue, take the abuse, and get your question answered - and don't be afraid to ask me. The initial set up can be a bit of a hassle, but I've done it enough to where I've become a pro.
Here's a screenshot of the main "Submit News" page. If you would like to see more screens, more info, or some advice to getting it started, don't be afraid to ask me. I just updated the main design of Coranto just a few days ago, so when you get yours, it won't look as spiffy - it will actualy look like a pink nightmare. No worries, just download the CSS Editor add-on and you can easily fix that problem and make yours as spiffy as I've made mine. Heck, If you like, I'll give you my CSS codes and the bg image I created.
Oh, and one of the best features about Coranto? Your site does NOT need to be PHP-designed!! There might be a few add-ons that require it, but the basic interface has NO PHP.

Malo Mart and Castle Town Exits Guide |
June 24, 2007, 10:26 AM EST by Maxine MagicFox |
|
Okay, I will have Fan Submittion Weekend up at some point later today. I have a few of my own items that I want to post up for the games, so please be patient with me. ^_^ If you guys send me in more items on the weekends, I'll be much more inclined to do these weekends as I don't see the point for only three or four items. Aww well.
Today's Updates: I have put up a Twilight Princess guide on how to not only open up Malo Mart but the east and south exits from Hyrule Castle Town (remember, it's written for the GCN version).
Next TP Update will either be ten more heart pieces or the upgrades for the bombs and arrows.

Two Minish Cap Guides Complete |
June 24, 2007, 4:30 AM EST by Frankie |
| Today's Updates: The Heart piece guide for the Minish Cap is now complete, along with the Dojo guide. When you go to these two guides, there are now pictures for everything, to help you if you're stuck.
Getting images for the Minish Cap was easy. Now, I'm supposed to be working on Ocarina of Time's gold skulltulas sometime soon... That'll be time consuming. But, I like to think of it was a scavenger hunt through Hyrule.

New PH Artwork added to gallery! |
June 23, 2007, 11:33 AM EST by Maxine MagicFox |
| Today's Updates: Pulled and editted from the Official Japanese Phantom Hourglass Website, I created a total of nine new Phantom Hourglass images that can be found in the PH Artwork gallery. These images are unwatermarked and free for your taking as I don't believe in claiming these artworks as my own no matter how much work I put into their creation. However, I do ask that you do keep me in mind and do put credit down and don't claim them as your own, but either way is fine by me.
XD Aren't they the absolute CUTEST?! *Squeee* I love them! *Coughs and puts her fan girl into proper check* Ahem, anywho, concerning Fan Submittion Weekend, if I don't get Saturday's posted, I will do a full posting of it all tomorrow, especially since there have been very little submittions. What I'm planning on doing is going through adding up a few of my own things to try to get things back underway.
Oh, and remember, if you have Phantom Hourglass imported, you can go ahead and start submitting both Torture Items AND Oddities! HOWEVER HOWEVER HOWEVER!! I will kick your bloody *** if you spoil anything for me. I will NOT accept spoiler material!

Phantom Hourglass and Tingle's RPG |
June 23, 2007, 8:44 AM EST by Maxine MagicFox |
|
Ok, first for the most important stuff. Now that Phantom Hourglass has officially released, the Official Japanese Phantom Hourglass Website has updated by putting up the story section (the top right button) and the information on the multiplayer function (the bottom left button).
More importantly, in the multiplayer section of the site, you will find TWO videos of the gameplay. Needless to say, it looks really awesome! The left video shows the Phantoms in action and the right video shows Link in action! ... I WANNA PLAY NOW!!
But that's not all for Phantom Hourglass. The Official Japanese Nintendo DS Website has updated with a new commercial video. Most of the stuff in it is the same as what we have seen, but there's one or two shots of new stuff. To reach the video, click the top button that says "TVCM" and then on that page, click the bottom right link.
Ok, and last but not... well maybe it is least, but it's good news, I suppose in a way. It has been announced over at The Hylia that Tingle's RPG will be making it's arrival over in Europe! ...That's kinda scary. Is the game finally trying to take the world over? Will it make it to America, I wonder? And I guess we shouldn't be totally afraid. The game does sound like it has some merit to it. Remember, you can read about this game in the Spin-Offs section of the site (one of the few pages I do have up over there).
Edit: Another small thing that I forgot I wanted to announce. I realize that certain sites, such as The Hylia are posting loads of spoilers and screens of PH and there's even a youtube video of the introduction of the game. If you wish to visit those sites for such spoilerish information, that's all well and good. However, I do not wish to view that many spoilers myself and will not put up this content because that would mean I would have to read it in order to post it. Phantom Hourglass is released, so there will be no more updates pertaining to story information and only a few barebones screenshots showing gameplay will be added to the gallery hence forth.

PH releases to top scores! |
June 20, 2007, 10:21 PM EST by Maxine MagicFox |
|
Phantom Hourglass has officially released today in Japan. And to top scores, too! Japan's Weekly Famitsu magazine gave the game a 39 out of 40, an almost perfect score. And, as pointed out by The Hylia, this tops Twilight Princess's own score of 38/40.
However, it remains to be seen how well the game will launch in America. Already two screenshots have released from the introduction of the game that has left a bad mouth in some parts of the community.
... Why? It's fricken' intro shots and furthermore I feel that they are absolutely ADORABLE! XD I don't know anything about the intro but it looks like something that Aryll created with punches of cut-out shapes from construction paper - something I did as a kid. I think these top even TMC's chibi shots and hope to see more up on the internet!

New affili-rules and MM Mp3s Return! |
June 20, 2007, 7:02 AM EST by Maxine MagicFox |
Today's Updates: As of late yesterday I finally got around to a project I kept meaning to do: update my Affiliation Rules. I had only a simple, pathetic placeholder but when critiquing sites was going off rules that were not listed. This has changed. Now is the perfect time to read the rules, fix your sites up, and lemme look at them. ^_^ At the very least, you can get a full site critique from me with all the problems that need fixing. Not a bad deal, actually.
Oh and finally the Majora's Mask Mp3s have made their return and hopefully they will not go offline again. Thanks goes to Archaic Sage of Raurus Return for doing this for me.
And last but not least: I extended the Zelda News Infocenter to list a total of fifteen news items instead of only ten. As I said, the flow of news affects how many items I display up there. The faster the news comes the more I'll allow to stay up at a time. The least amount is six with the most being 20. Your RSS Feeds have been updated with this change too.
Whoops! One last thing, I have added April's and May's updates into the old archives and cleaned up the past updates page link down at the bottom of the first ten posts so that only June's are now showing.

How about an actual update now? |
June 19, 2007, 5:59 AM EST by Maxine MagicFox |
Today's Updates: The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess Heart Piece guide has officialy launched. At the moment, though, it ONLY covers those Heart Pieces found in dungeons. Hopefully the other Heart Pieces won't take me so long to get up since they aren't as complicated about where to go. I'll try to update the guide with about every week.
We have yet another update, though. The Beta Zelda Files has launched with a new section! The Minish Cap! There are right now 12 images contributed ages ago for the impending section that I have finally gotten placed up.
With their addition, I was now able to go actually clean out the Contribute Beta Images section. Now if you happen to have any beta images from ANY game, you can upload them into the site! It's easy. You don't even need to register. Just go over to the gallery, click upload, select your file(s) off your machine, upload them, and then choose the "Contribute Beta Images" from the drop down menu. Yep, that easy!!
*Sigh* I was also hoping to announce that the Majora's Mask mp3s were now back up, however, we are having some slight technical difficulties with that issue. Hopefully they'll be resolved some time this week.
Now don't you guys disappear too far this week, I've got a lot planned, actually. Oh and about Fan Submittion weekend, I cancelled it on the account that I didn't get too many send ins, which is partly because of my lateness last time. ^_^; *cough* Meh, oh well.

IGN Reviews PH JPN Only Demo |
June 18, 2007, 11:21 PM EST by Maxine MagicFox |
|
The IGN Website has a review up for the Phantom Hourglass. The review is based only one the Japan-only released Phantom Hourlgass demo that was released.
Be careful, though, while there aren't any major spoilers, if you don't like real in-depth details, you might want to stay away from this article.
"Different from the past demo versions, the new retail demo appears to start off right at the start of the game. Since you probably hate it when anyone spoils your Zelda, we'll skip the details and get to the point. Link, in search of Tetra, arrives on an island and falls in the company of a Navi-like fairy. You're told to head to the nearby port village, where it appears sea-travel awaits Link once again."
"Screenshots and online videos don't do the game justice. See it running live on the tiny DS screens, and you may have to look twice to convince yourself that this is a DS game."

Secret Vid Released on PH JPN Site |
June 18, 2007, 8:43 PM EST by Maxine MagicFox |
|
If you hop over to the official Japanese Phantom Hourglass website, there is a secret video that has been released. Hahaha, I call it secret because you have to really pay attention to where it is. In the main PH logo, you will see the addition of an animated compass. Click the compass and it will take you to another video with even more gameplay shots from Phantom Hourglass.
Oh and might I add that it contains some very GOOD, MUST SEE content.
Update: After looking, I noticed that this same video has been added up on the official Japanese DS site. Click the top button with TVCM written in it and click the bottom link below the video feed in order to watch a shortened version (with a few different angles on things). Click the button button below TVCM for the same video displayed on the PH site.
Oh and the interview listed on that page has been translated over at The Hylia.

New PH Video on JPN DS Site |
June 14, 2007, 7:24 AM EST by Maxine MagicFox |
|
If you go to the Phantom Hourglass section of the official Japanese DS website, you will find a new video has been added.
In all honesty, it doesn't show much in the way of Phantom Hourglass. Actually, it just shows a Japanese girl playing the game and trying to solve a puzzle that she reads on a tablet. It's actually kinda funny watching her do it and listening to her talk. I swear, she sounds like me when I'm trying to solve something like that. XD
You won't be missing anything, though, if you don't watch it.
If you jump over to the same page I linked you guys to a week ago, you will find that there is yet another third video that has been added which is a much shorter version of the above video and looks to be an actual commercial rather than a camera shoved in someone's face as they play the game.

PH Japanese Site Launches! |
June 13, 2007, 6:07 PM EST by Maxine MagicFox |
|
Phantom Hourglass Official Japanese Site launched today! And with some wonderful content - 4 new gameplay videos.
While I can't tell you what it is the site content says, if you scroll down on the index page you will see the first video which displays general gameplay. Click on the top left button beside it to enter a page with details on gameplay.
On the first page, you will see a video and two screenshots. Play the video for shots of Link walking through town and interacting with villagers. Click the middle tab above for yet two more screens and a video that demonstrates how to make Link fight with awesome style! And click the last tab for two more screens and a video of Link using his awesome boomerang and solving a few puzzles.
There is still much content that has still not be activated on the site. I'll keep you up to date here on MCLoZ as more sections of the site slowly become available.
And while I only keep the images updated with American release information, here is the release date for Japan: June 23, 2007.

Simple and yet so very unique |
June 12, 2007, 7:07 AM EST by Maxine MagicFox |
|
Ok, time for another game review. As it is, I usually only review games that are not only just new and upcoming but are very unique. I got an e-mail the other day asking why I wasn't posting any SSBB news. My question is, why? I'm a Zelda site and you can find that news easily on just about every gaming site you go to. I like things that are a little more unorthodox since I feel there is a very big draught in creativity amongst developers these days.
Enough about that! Let's talk about a new game: Capucine
For those unfamiliar with the name Capucine (Cap-ooh-seen), it is the name of a small simple flower that comes in a variety of colors. It is actually french for the a name that might be more recognizable: Nasturtium.
Thus sets the basis for the game. While the graphics are not much to look at, and I wonder and hope if they will improve as they look like early Playstation, the game premise and idea is amazing.

The character is an eight year old girl. She has been cast into a dark, dead fantasy world with her only weapon a shaft of light that shoots out from the Capucine flower she holds in her hand. With the aide of this flower, she will be required to solve puzzles in order to revive the life that has been sucked out of this world.

The game is based around puzzle solving and free-realm walking. There is a strong emphasis on "giving life" in this game rather than taking it away. However, there are enemies in this game that the character must be very careful not to create as she reanimates the planet: shadows. Once these shadows have been animated, they will attempt to steal the flower from the young eight year old child.

The aim of this game is strictly targeted for those who are young and those who are young at heart (fantasy for the inner-child, anyone?). The platform is the new Nintendo Wii.
For lack of anything better to say, the game looks nothing short of amazing. Though I worry about the game length, and the difficulty as the website indicates that the game is geared for the casual gamer "with no time to be involved in a long game with complex gameplay." The graphics also look like they are in some dire need of tweaking. However, I do not believe that games should be based solely on the virtue of their graphics. If the game has a strong storyline and is fun, that's all there is to it in my eyes. (True, graphics help, but, I can be satisfied with PS1 style.)
The Website can be located here: http://www.capucinethegame.com/ And it is definitely worth a strong look. There is even a quicktime video available that demonstrates the actual game play.

Having a Sunday on Monday |
June 11, 2007, 10:35 PM EST by Maxine MagicFox |
Today's Updates: Zelda Secrets and Oddities have been added!
Zelda Secrets and Oddities - Odd Tips and Tricks:
- OoT - Giant Orange Rupee | Miss Chibi
Zelda Secrets and Oddities - Unusual Observations:
- OoT Master Quest - Gerudo Symbol - Another Symbol | Rose
I was really depressed this time as there were a lot of oddities that I could not accept. Please remember that unless it's "odd" and only Zelda related (I wish I had a dime for every time I thought of Zelda or a tune while watching TV), then it's not going up. ^_^; But then, I guess I can't fault you guys for trying. Oh and let me re-interate this once more: gameshark codes DO NOT COUNT as being odd. I am very picky about what I consider odd with gameshark codes. The Arwing in OoT counts. Or, there's a TP gameshark trick that reveals two monsters which I'm hoping someone sends in.
Also, may I encourage something else with these oddities: if you have supporting media such as images or even youtube video, don't be afraid to submit them with the oddity!

I absolutely love the shading in this sketch. I also like the different approach to the drawing of Link. He has such a thick head of hair. LOL.
MCLoZ Spotlight
So, what MCLoZ feature am I going to focus on today? Actually, I would like to just discuss our content. This week I will be launching the Twilight Princess Heart Guide. It won't be complete and actually will only, at first, concentrate on the Heart Pieces that can be found in the dungeons.
While attempting to find cheats to help me find all of the Pieces of Heart, I discovered something somewhat shocking. Very few sites, including the GameeFaqs content, actually had anything reliable towards collecting these HPs. Me and my sister Risaa (who is making her own contributions to the site by helping me), spent an hour on one HP trying to find it. We were both playing our games and we had both obtained a few of these HPs. There was one HP located in a tree at the south end of a bridge in South Hyrule field. Actually that's about all we got out of any guide. We weren't sure if we had gotten this piece or not in any of our games. Unfortunately, we both couldn't figure out which tree ALL of these guides seemed to be refering to. o_O; We spent half an hour on that one piece before we gave up and decided that we might have already gotten it.
What's the point of this story? This is how I want my content on MCLoZ to be. So that if you are reading my guide and going down the list, you will not have this problem. If you've gotten an HP, my guide will be so direct that you will know without-a-doubt you've already gotten this HP, because let's face it - with 45 and some of us not being avid side-quest fans, when we come back a week later to the game, it's hard to remember what we did get or not.
I am simply disgusted by the guides of content I see around on other sites. And this is how I've always treated things with MCLoZ. In the TWW section, not only can you find Heart Pieces and Bottles, but you can go by every island and find out what is located there: Rupees included! What other site has Rupees?! What other site do you know that actually goes to the trouble of find the Door Men in the original Legend of Zelda game in BOTH first and second quests?
^_^ I like to say that while reporting Zelda news is very important, there is not a Zelda site you can go on these days that you can't find this content on. That is why I do not want my visitors to come here on MCLoZ for Zelda News. I love the games. In some ways when I'm working on MCLoZ I actually want you off my site and playing the games. I want you to find something so unique and interesting, that you want to hop off and attempt it yourself.
This is the biggest feature we have here on MCLoZ and I hope you will all wish me the best of luck. And if you are ever reading any of my guides and are spending half an hour searching one screen for half an hour for a Heart Piece, PLEASE e-mail me IMMEDIATELY with the nastiest e-mail ever. ... You have no idea all the nasty things I would like to send to those pseudo-sites that only list the basics of Heart Piece locations. Would you believe that there is no site that offers to solutions to the ice puzzles to obtain one Heart Piece in North Hyrule Field? Don't worry - I promise that you WILL have those solutions to ALL ice puzzles.

Due to absolute and sheer laziness on the part of Maxine MagicFox, she has decided that she will update MCLoZ with Fan Sunday tomorrow. On a side note, I DID enjoy playing Etrian Odyssey all day.
PLEASE FORGIVE ME!! I promise I'll update tomorrow. ^_^; I'm only a gamer. *Cough* Well, at least I'm being honest about it.
Oh and Majora's Mask mp3s will be re-posted tomorrow as well. It is also my plan to launch the first part of the TP Heart Guide sometime this week.

Today's Updates: Link's Infinite List of Torture Items 330-332 submitted by Tri-Edge and Nazul
Fan Site Review
I just found this site the other day. I do want to comment on a few things. The design's grading isn't because I feel the design is horrid, actually it's very clean and nice, however, if you look at the right bar, it's flawed. They didn't do a good job coding the design. I also had nothing to go on about the updates, so I left it blank.

Fan Site News
It seems that last week, in addition to Zelda Blog closing down, Jack of our very own affiliate Desert Colossus is closing his site. It's really been coming. -_- He's really just lost interest in the series which is very sad. I hate to see him go. I remember his site from waaaaaay back when.
Ok, you know what. I had something that someone wanted me to announce way back from last week. However, guess what. Since it was over IM I have forgotten who asked and what it was for. -_-; Sorry... new rule: if there is something you would like me to announce here, even if we do it over IM, please e-mail it to me. I'm a VERY VERY forgetful person. The sort that has posties all over the fridge and lives by her planner. I feel aweful now. Don't yell at me!
A note about the MCLoZ Mp3 Player: one of our hosts, Zelda Ultimate, has fallen through. Fortunately, he only controlled the Majora's Mask files. I will see if one of our other two hosts will take these files up or then I will be be going through and asking some of those previous people who offered if they would like to host these files.
Upcoming MCLoZ Feature
So it is once again that time to rant and rave about something that I have in the works for MCLoZ, huh? Well, here we go: avatars! ^_^ Within the near future, I would like to start creating small avatars that can be used on forums, aim messanger, or anywhere else you can think of. These will be displayed in the image gallery and I will have a place where you can post your own fan created avatars as well!

From Three Words to More! |
June 7, 2007, 10:39 PM EST by Maxine MagicFox |
| Today's Updates: The Twilight Princess gaming section has been updated. Be sure to check out the new Fishing Guide.
And so my three words grew to ten times that. It happened in actually a small amount of time. I decided this morning when I woke up that I didn't feel like watching Sola or Lucky Star and that instead I was going to start work on the fishing guide.
Aren't I so impressive? MWHAHAHAHAA!!

Phantom Hourglass Info Revealed |
June 7, 2007, 5:04 PM EST by Maxine MagicFox |
|
First, this comes with two new images to our image gallery; both of them are from Nintendo's Famitsu magazine: Page 1 and Page 2
New information that was released. Source: GoNintendo.
- Fishing and treasure hunting included (By this, I'm wondering if they mean that the ocean treasure-fishing is making a comeback.)
- Rupee Likes return (Like Likes! Yay!! ... There goes all of my Rupees)
- Gorons return, new races make appearance (...The Gorons never left in the first place? We just saw them as "concealed" salesman. Whatever. But for more information on the "new race(s)", read below.)
- Salvatore (Sploosh!) returns (??? Wait, who? o_O; I don't recall what they are talking about here. Edit: Oh! It's the minigame guy! Thanks for the reminder, Ando! ... This guy scared me so I kept away from him as much as possible. XD)
- Ice section (Ice dungeon? XD I wonder if they'll have the cute animation of Link slipping and falling on his face again.)
- Customizable ship! (THIS, however, DOES peak my interest!!)
Other released information. Source: The Hylia (and Patricia, I'm assuming).
**CAREFUL!! SLIGHTLY SPOILERISH**
-Once a Phantom sees you in the underground temple, he'll follow you. You can't beat him, but he can kill you with a single blow. The only way to get away from him is getting to a "sacred area".
-There will be many events when you're sailing. For example, you'll have to fight a mysterious woman who suddenly gets on your ship.
-The new race featured on the article is called "yukiwaroshi."
**/END SLIGHT SPOILERS**
Very very interesting in my opinion. ^_^ I'm really starting to get psyched for this game now! Waaaaah!! I wanna play!!

Two PH demos on JPN website |
June 7, 2007, 6:02 AM EST by Maxine MagicFox |
|
The Japanese Official Nintendo DS Website has updated by posting two new videos on their website. These videos are very brief demonstrations on the operations of how Link will move with the DS keypad. Nothing really exceptionally new.
The first video on this page is a demo of Link fighting enemies. By clicking the right-most link directly beneath the video, you can watch a demostration of Link using his boomerang.
However, all of it is things that we've seen before or at least could have guessed on our own.

That's why I had that installed! |
June 6, 2007, 8:40 AM EST by Maxine MagicFox |
|
So, last November, when I was still coding the site and getting things ready to go up, and was working on Coranto and how I wanted my news system to work, I found an add-on that seemed helpful for certain unknown incidents - a back up for news post. I decided to take the time to just go ahead and install it, enable it, and just let it do whatever. Pffft, as if anything could possibly happen, right?
This morning, something did. o_O; I go to make the post you can read below, got it all typed up, nice and perty and then pressed the submit. There was no cataclysmic boom, no atomic kaabam, and certainly no devestating error messages. However, when I go onto the site, I am met with... nothing. Just the bare bones design. No news posts. NONE. The Zelda News Infocenter bar is empty. Thinking maybe I hit my "MCLoZ Work" button in my firefox favorites toolbar (because that's how the page looks, though right now there is "Fishing Hole" across teh page) instead of the "MCLoZ" button, I click again. ... Same result. It slowly dawns on with the check of my RSS Feed that - my news items are not there. I even hop onto Coranto and click Modify News wondering if maybe there's some error message that says things are down. I am met with a horrifying sight: nothing. No news to modify. Nothing! Eradicated, gone, destroyed, vanished.
OMFG! WHAT HAVE I DONE?!
Now in panic mode, I remember that add-on that I had installed and forgotten about. I didn't even know if I had ever enabled it in the first place. Yep, I had. It took a few moments to read the documentation and figure out how to retrieve my back up and re-install it back in. Yeah, that's how much I wasn't depending on the thing. I didn't even read how it worked to begin with. However, as yoou can see - it worked. Wonderfully! It seems my sense of self-preservation has saved a two-month un-backed up log from utter destruction.
Having no idea what caused this, I immediately back up these logs to be sorted out later. I then try to re-post the below post. Same result. Perplexed and baffled and wondering what's in the post to do this, I once again re-load the backup. o_O My heart stops for a second, though, when this time the back up only has half the posts. WTF?! I try again and this time a little message on my FTP transferer catches my eye: "Disc Quota Exceeded". I remember this nasty little message. While on my mp3 crusade it was this same message that nearly caused the untimely death of the project. -_-; That's when I remember, I had no deleted those mp3s that I had uploaded. A few quick deletions and I try everything all over again and this time it all works successfully.
The mp3 project, and my own carelessness, nearly caused the death and destruction of two months of update logs. However, thanks to my careful ingenuity and planning waaaay back in November, these were easily recovered. This does, however, tell me that I should get off my lazy butt and start putting these files away into the archives the way that I should.
And that concludes my early morning scare o_o; My heart doesn't need these sort of things!

Just Reporting In - Complete Rantage! |
June 6, 2007, 8:23 AM EST by Maxine MagicFox |
| Today's Updates: None. Just reporting in with a rant about some of the things that you can expect to come up ... as well as what Max does in her free time.
I felt the need to report in as a lot of things that I'm doing right now is off the site and I know you guys must be getting impatient. So, I will at least tell you what to expect VERY soon.
Twilight Princess Heart Guide - I will add like ten place to go to get heart pieces so the page will be created gradually.
The Fishing Guide - a simple little chat about the places to go for fishing, how to catch the Hylian Loach, a descriptive detail of the Fishing Hole, the lures you can get, and whatever else I feel like sticking in there.
Coincidentally, the beginning of the HP guide is sitting on my shelf collecting dust and the most that I hae done for the guide is "Fishing Hole" written on the offline version of the site. .... ^_^;; I will get on that ASAP! My image collector is also hard at work collecting images for our Minish Cap Heart Piece guide.
I've also downloaded the AoL ROM and will begin playing it so as to get through the game to begin filling in that section.
I'm ALSO going to rewrite the Affiliation Requirements and the Join the Staff page.
So, I've got a LOT of stuff to do... If I could put down Etrian Odyssey long enough, stop gazing adoringly at the sweet sword my sister got me for my birthday, and will get over my re-addiction for the manga Saikano due to the fact that I FINALLY purchased the anime ($70 was WAY too much... but fandom knows no bounds!) and have been completely immersed. Not to mention the fact that in addition to Saikano I am currently watching the animes Claymore, Lucky Star, Nana, Sola, Hayate no Gotoku, and Aishiteruze Baby... oh and Death Note, Bokurano, Darker than Black, and Kami-chama Karin could be added to my list of "watching" but it's not even aggressivly watching and i haven't picked those titles up in at least a month or more.
Oh, and in addition to this I'm frequently following up on the online comics, MegaTokyo, Apple Geeks, 9th Elsewhere, and Mana Theater. I've also been passively glancing at Penny Arcade and VG Cats... though both of their sort of humor is not one I can really get into, however, they know their games and their gaming news so at least for that... maybe? Well, at least they can be there for me whenever one of my four main ones don't update.
And then there's also my writing which I've been intensely immersed in. I got sick of writing news stories and essays for my classes. <3 It feels good to open up one of my story documents and start typing away while listening to music and losing myself in a plot of my own creation.
o_O So... yeah... Zelda... ^_^; I'm such a fricken otaku! *Cough* And I haven't even picked up a book yet in ages. However, I will pass on this urge and try to focus more intensely on Zelda! .... YES I WILL!! .... I PROMISE I WILL! ...
*Stomps off to go see if Club Pogo has updated with new badges* ..... *Blushes* Yes.. I have a membership... as do my parents. ^_^; It's a little family thing... *Cough* Yeah, if you type in maxinemagicfox you'll find me. .... *Blushes* WHAT?! I CAN BE AS MUCH IN LOVE WITH A SIMPLE YET DUMB GAME LIKE ACES UP!! ... T-T LEAVE ME ALONE *Runs off crying*

Zelda II arrives on VC, Monday |
June 1, 2007, 7:14 PM EST by Maxine MagicFox |
|
As of Monday, players will be capable of purchasing Zelda II: Adventure of Link for the Wii Virtual Console. The game will cost a total of 500 points. The game, originally for the NES, is saddly hailed as one of the worst Zelda games, but also one of the most original. Who knows, maybe you will be one of the few who will actually enjoy the game.
In addition to this fantastic news, Zelda II will mark the 100th game brought over the Virtual Console.
Hrrrm, I think it's time for me to starting playing Zelda II and to start feeling in our very empty Zelda II section.
