Types of Kinstones:

Blue I Blue II Red I Red II Red III Green I Green II Green III

There are also Gold Kinstones, but they are all part of the main story, and must be found to complete the game.

Time Periods:

Many Kinstone fusions will only be able to take place after a certain event has occurred, and occasionally vanish once another event occurs. Since many fusions will only be available during a certain period, it is best to do every fusion in the period given.

Period 1: Lasts from the beginning of the game until the King of Hyrule is possessed by Vaati.

Period 2: Lasts from the end of Period 1 until you defeat Mazaal in the Fortress of Winds

Period 3: Lasts from the end of Period 2 until you complete the Temple of Droplets.

Period 4: Lasts from the end of Period 3 until you get a gold Kinstone from the ghost of King Gustaf in Royal Valley.

Period 5: Lasts from the end of Period 4 until you get the Wind Element.

Period 6: Lasts from the end of Period 5 until you get the Four Sword.

Period 7: Lasts from the end of Period 6 until the end of the game.

(Note: After you defeat Vaati, many fusions from earlier periods that you missed will become available again.)

Major Sidequests:

These involve multiple fusions to gain a single goal.

The Goron Quest:

Period 2: First, fuse a Blue I with the Goron trying to break through a wall in the southern part of Lon Lon Ranch to make a Kinstone merchant appear in Hyrule Castle Town. Then, find the farmer Eenie further south, and fuse a Blue II to make the Goron bust through the wall.

Period 3: You will now need to fuse with five Mysterious Walls to make more Gorons appear in the cave. The first is located on Mt. Crenel, in the northeastern corner of a cave near the Crenel Hermit. Fuse a Blue I. The next is in a cave in the northwest corner of Trilby Highlands, near a second ladder out. Fuse a Blue II. The third is in the northeastern corner of a cave near Eenie and Meenie’s farm. Fuse a Blue I. The fourth is in the northeastern corner of a cave near Syrup’s hut in Minish Woods. Fuse a Blue II.

Period 6: With the Roc’s Cape, you can access a cave in the north of Lake Hylia. West of the entrance is the fifth and final Mysterious Wall. Fuse a Blue II. Now that all six Gorons have congregated, you can access the last bottle in the cave.

Period 7: Lastly, you can fuse a Red II with the Goron on the far right in the cave to awaken Biggoron. See the Items list on how to get the Mirror Shield.

The Light Arrow Quest:

In Period 1, fuse a Red II with the Stranger in Hyrule Castle Town. Enter the warp that appears and go to the highest level of the tower, and suck away the ghost pestering the old man with the Gust Jar. Speak to him when you return to the tower during the course of the game to receive the Light Arrows.

Din, Nayru, and Farore's Quest:

In Period 3, go to the inn in Hyrule Castle town to find Din, Nayru, and Farore. Fuse a Red III with Farore (the one in green) to give Gorman the idea to rent out his house. Talk to him, and return to the inn. Select one of the girls to give the house to. Talk to her later to receive her respective Charm. Next, fuse a Red II with Bremor, the workman standing beside the post office, then wait a while for a new house to be built. Talk to Gorman again, then pick another girl to give the house to. Again, visit her to receive her Charm. Be aware that you can’t get the third girl’s Charm.

Later, in Period 5, fuse a Red II with all three, wherever they are, to make the three Joy Butterflies appear.

Tingle’s Quest:

During Period 2, find all four of the Tingle brothers and fuse a random Green Kinstone with each to open up four trees in North Hyrule Field. Push the switched within all four to get access to a treasure chest containing the Magic Boomerang. Tingle is up on a ledge in South Hyrule Field. David Jr. is standing just south of the house in the north part of Lake Hylia. To get to Ankle, enter a cave in the cow pasture in Lon Lon Ranch, and go up the ladder. Knuckle is available in Period 3. Dig into the cave across the northwest bridge in Trilby highlands, and go up the ladder.

The Castor Wilds Lilypads Quest:

During Period 3, fuse random green Kinstones twice with a boy named Zill in Hyrule Town, and once with one of the Minish in Minish Village to make lilypads appear in Castor Wilds, giving you access to various places.

Percy’s Quest:

During Period 2, find Percy’s living inside a large tree in the southwest corner of the Western Woods. Fuse a Red III with him to open the path to his house. Enter the house and light both torches to reveal a Moblin. Talk to it to get 50 Rupees. Leave the house and reenter to get 100 Shells from Percy.
