Storytellers

The original storytellers in the game, are presumably people who originally came into the Sacred Realm in search of the Triforce. However, they were obviously transformed into strange creatures and took up residence in caves. If you pay them 20 Rupees they will tell you a single "story" which hints at secrets and what you are suppose to do.

Storyteller #1: Location and Message

"Ha! Thank you. They say there is a tiny circle of rocks in the lake at the source of the river. I don't know what will happen, but it might be fun to throw something into it..."

The quickest route: in the Light World, play your flute and go to 6. Hammer down the bumps you find there and lift up the rock in the middle to find a portal. The portal will take you to this screen.

Storyteller #2: Location and Message

"Heh heh. Thank you. To tell you the truth, I used to be a thief in the Light World... some of my fellow thieves went into hiding because they were afraid of being caught. One of them was a master locksmith, but now he is hiding the fact that he was a thief... by pretending to be a strange middle-aged guy! Ha ha ha... "

At the very end of the Dark River, east of Ice Lake Cavern.

Storyteller #3: Location and Message

"Hah! Thank you. To tell you the truth, I found incredible beauty inside the pyramid, but someone sealed the door. You can't do anything with a standard bomb, they say..."

To the west of the graveyard. In fact, in the same spot as the Sanctuary in the Light World.

Storyteller #4: Location and Message

"Heh heh. Thank you. As a matter of fact, monster magic is making it rain in the swamp. If you can move the air with more force than the monsters, the rain may stop."

In the Misery Mire, located around the right-most wall.

The Talking Trees

When you first play the game and enter the Dark World, it's almost startling how life-like the trees are. I mean, it almost seems like they could just suddenly come to life and talk to you. Well, actually, a few can! They can be spotted by the fact that they have eyes that move around following you - watching you. If you bump into their "snouts" they will spit a bomb out at you, so be careful! However, once they have tried to kill you, if you go up and try to talk to them they will say some pretty interesting things. (The tree that Link is facing in the pictures is the "talking tree" in case you cannot make out their roving eyes.)

Talking Tree #1: Location and Message

"Wow! I haven't seen a normal person in a few hundred years! Let me talk to you for a while. Surprisingly the Triforce created this world to fulfill Ganon's wish. What is Ganon's wish, you ask? It is to rule the entire cosmos! Don't you think it might be possible with the power of the Triforce behind you?"

When you use the hookshot to get over to the otherside of the river after coming from the Pyramid of Power, the tree is just in sight at the bottom of your screen.

Talking Tree #2: Location and Message

"Quit bothering me! And watch where you're going when you dash around!"

In the little unknown place that is one screen up, one to the right, and one down from the Village of Outcasts. On your map it's the area in between the village and the pyramid. This tree is located near the shopt you'll find there.

Talking Tree #3: Location and Message

"Quit bothering me! And watch where you're going when you dash around!"

Positioned near the left most entrance into Skull Forest in the northern section of the Village of the Outcasts.

Talking Tree #4: Location and Message

"Wow! I haven't seen a normal person in a few hundred years! Let me talk to you for a while. Do you know about the Gargoyle statue in the village? People say they can hear a girl calling for help under the statue. Isn't that a strange story..."

Just above the southern exit in the Village of Outcasts.

Talking Tree #5: Location and Message

"Quit bothering me! And watch where you're going when you dash around!"

Just below and to the right of the entrance into the Haunted Grove.

Talking Tree #6: Location and Message

"Wow! I haven't seen a normal person in a few hundred years! Let me talk to you for a while. I heard that using Bombs is the best way to defeat one-eyed giants. That's all I know!"

In the screen to the left of the Bomb Shop - the house which replaces Link's home in the Dark World.

The Fortune Tellers

Unsure what to do next? Zelda recommends that you visit a Fortune Teller. Ask them to tell you your fortune and they will give you one of several various messages. However, watch out! You need at least 20 Rupees to ask them to tell your fortune, but depending on how much you do have, they will take more. Below are the locations and then all the messages they can say. The messages they can tell you are randomized and depend on your in-game progress. A note of thanks and appreciation for help on this part by reviewing the Link to the Past text dump that can be found on Zelda Legends.

Fortune Tellers #1,2,3: Locations and Messages

Location #1:

In the Light World, a screen above Kakariko Village.

Location #2:

In the Light World. Starting from Link's house, go right one screen and down one screen.
