Item Locations and Information

Level 1 Sword
Your first sword in the game. You find it at Toronbo Shores on the beach where the wreckage of your ship washed up.

Level 2 Sword
The second sword you can get if you take the time out to do the side quest. You receive it at the Seashell Mansion when you have finally obtained all 20 Secret Seashells located throughout Koholint.

Level 1 Shield
Your first shield in the game. Received from Tarin before you even leave the house (he won't let you leave until he's given it back).

Mirror Shield
The section shield in the game. Has the power to reflect back beams and deflect some fire attacks. Received in Level 7: Eagle Tower.

Sleepy Mushroom
Not much can be done with it except to create Magic Powder from it. You find it growing in the Mysterious Forest.

Magic Powder
Destroys things in an interesting manner, lights torches, and has the power to awaken the three Mad Batters hidden around Koholint. First received from the Witch when you give her a Sleepy Mushroom.

Roc's Feather
When used it allows you to jump. Received in Level 1: Tail Cave.

Power Bracelet L1
Use this strange bracelet in order to lift things, like pots. Received in Level 2: Bottle Grotto.

Power Bracelet L2
A more powerful version of the bracelet above. This allows you to lift certain things that you couldn't before. Mostly you just use this in the dungeon you receive it in: Level 6: Face Shrine.

Shovel
Think about it hard enough and I'm sure you'll figure out what this does. You mostly use it for one purpose, to get a key in the back of Richard's Villa. It is also neccessary to reveal a few Secret Seashells. Later you can trade it in for the Boomerang. It is up for sale in the Mabe Village Shop for 200 Rupees.

Bombs
Use these to kill enemies or open up holes in loose walls. You can first buy them in the Mabe Village Shop or you can wait until you really need them and locate them in Kanalet Castle like I do.

Pegasus Boots
Use these to execute the devastating Dash Attack which can be used to bash or kill through certain things or just to get somewhere else faster. When used with the feather it can make you jump a lot farther. Received in Level 3: Key Cavern.

Ocarina
Learn Marin's Song, Manbo's Mambo, and the Frog's Song to help you accom-plish certain things needed throughout your quest (or with the Mambo just to warp to a pond near Crazy Tracy's potion shop). Received in the Dream Shrine located in Mabe Village.

Hook Shot
Use this to hook over to anything that the hook sticks to, or you can just use it to pull items over to you from a distance or stun certain enemies. Received in Level 5: Catfish's Maw.

Bow and Arrows
Yet another weapon to use in which to kill your enemies. This will do the trick from a distance and in some instances certain enemies can only be defeated with this. Buy it for 950 Rupeeps in Mabe Village after you have completed Level 4: Angler's Tunnel.

Magic Rod
An awesome weapon that sets fire to anything its magic beam touches. Good for killing enemies and melting ice and for killing the Level 8 Boss: Hot Head. Received in Level 8: Turtle Rock.

Boomerang
Use this special weapon to destroy sparks to turn them into fairies, stun enemies or kill them, and to even defeat the final Nightmare boss, Dethl, with a single blow to the eye. To receive it, you must have the Magnifying Glass to see the Moblin in a cave located on Toronbo Shores. Give him the shovel in exchange for it.

Extra Items Not Selectable

Flippers
Needed to swim through deep water and to dive with the B button. Receive it in Level 4: Angler's Tunnel.

Magnifying Glass
Needed to be able to see tiny things Link would not normally be able to see. Essential to solving the puzzle of the Windfish's Egg and to also receive the fantastic Boomerang. Receive it after completing the Trading Sequence.

Secret Medicine
Be given another chance when you run out of hearts instead of receiving a Game Over. Only good for one use per bottle, so be careful! Buy it from Crazy Tracy's or find it in chests in certain dungeons.
