Gear Locations and Information

Kokiri Sword
The first sword you start out with. Nothing special about it, really.

Razor Sword
Get the sword tempted by the Mountain Smiths for 100 Rupees. However, though this sword is more powerful than the Kokiri Sword, it only lasts for 100 strikes or until you go back in time. A waste of money, really.

Gilded Sword
In order to get this sword you must first have the Razor Sword and the Gold Dust won at the Goron Race Track. Once you have these give the Mountain Smithy the gold dust and they will create this sword for you. And this upgrade won't dull or disappear when you go back in time!

Hero's Shield
The first shield you start out with. Nothing special about it, really, except that it's made from steel and will not burn up when fire touches it.

Mirror Shield
The second shield you can get. This one has the power to reflect sunlight and is really useful for getting through Ikana Stone Tower. Received at the end of the Well where it connects with Ikana Castle.

Item Locations and Information

Ocarina of Time
Can be used wearing any mask, though the instrument changes. You use it to play the many necessary songs you will learn throughout the game. You receive it back at the very beginning when you fight Majora's Mask.

Deku Nut
Can be used as Link or Deku Scrub to stun enemies or even kill some. You first receive them inside a chest during the beginning sequence before you get inside the Clock Tower.

Deku Stick
It's a ... stick... only Link can use it. It's basic purpose is as an alternative weapon or as a temporary torch. You can receive it just by killing Deku Babas.

Bombs
Can only be used as Link. Use this weapon to blast things open or to hurt enemies you are fighting. Buy them from the Bomb Shop located in West Clock Town.

Bombchu
Only useable as Link. For all intents and purposes, it's a bomb on wheels that either explodes when it hits something or after a certain space of time, even going up walls and across ceilings. Buy them from the Bomb shop located in West Clock Town.

Magic Beans
Only useable as Link. Plant them in soft soil and water them with fresh water to grow a perfectly healthy Magic Plant which will help you to get to hard to reach places. You can only buy them from a guy hidden in the Deku Palace Garden and a Business Scrub located in the Southern Swamp.

Pictograph Box
Use with any mask. It takes only a single shot at any given time that can be lost with the taking of another picture or going back in time. Needed to compete in the Pictograph Contest in the Southern Swamp. You receive it from Koume in the Information Center once you have helped her.

Hero's Bow
Only useable as Link. Use it with the regular arrows or the three other special ones you can receive to either kill enemies or accomplish certain needed tasks. You're not going to get very far without this item. Received in Woodfall Temple's main treasure chest.

Fire Arrow
Use this arrow type with the Hero's Bow to set fire to things the arrow hits or to even melt ice. Received in Snowhead Temple.

Ice Arrow
Use this arrow type with the Hero's Bow to freeze things or turn enemies to ice temporarily. Received in the Great Bay Temple.

Light Arrow
Use this arrow type with the Hero's Bow to shine light on areas that require a little brightness. Received in the Stone Tower Temple.

Lens of Truth
Use with any mask. Needed to reveal things that are might be hidden from normal view, though it requires a little magic power in order to use it. Received in Goron Village's Lone Peak Shrine.

Powder Keg
Use only with the Goron Mask. Though you can only carry one at a time, this thing explodes those things that the Bombs can't even touch. Can be bought from either the Powder Keg master in the Mountain Village or from the Goron in the Bomb Shop which is cheaper.

Hook Shot
Usable only as Link. The hook attaches only to wooden things but can also be used to snag certain items to bring them to you. It can also be used as a weapon. But its main purpose is to snap Link where the hook catches. It can be found within the Pirate's Fortress.

Great Fairy's Sword
Use only as Link. For all intents and purposes, it's a sword! However, this is a C-button item and is optional, unlike an upgrade to Link's main sword. The drawback to this huge sword, though, is that you cannot use your shield with it nor can you power it up with magic for a spin attack, though if you use the rotating controller trick it still works. Receive this from the Great Fairy you piece back together with the Stray Fairies found in the Stone Tower Temple.

Bottles
Use with any mask. In these babies you can store anything from fairies to potions to even Deku Princesses!! There are six Bottles in all and below are the directions to how to find them.

Bottle 1
Once you have found Koume injured in the Woods of Mystery, go back to Kotake's Magic Potion Shop and talk to her and she will give you this Bottle filled with Red Potion.

Bottle 2
After you have defeated Goht in the Snowhead Temple, use a Powder Keg to open the entrance to the Goron Race Track. If you participate in it and win, you will win this Bottle filled with Gold Dust!

Bottle 3
At 2:30 AM on Day 1 go to Romani Ranch and prevent the aliens from stealing the cows. (If you play the Inverted Song of Time to slow time down it will help out a great deal by slowing these creatures down.)

Bottle 4
Complete the Beaver Race within the time limit... uhh... twice.

Bottle 5
On Day 3 at some time after 6:00 PM get the Stalchildren to dig up a grave. You will find Dampe below and he will ask you to lead him around with Tatl to help him dig up mounds. Dig up certain spots and a Poe will appear. Defeat it and you will receive this Bottle as a prize!

Bottle 6
If you do the Kafei and Anju Notebook Task you will receive a letter to give to Kafei's mother on Day 3 after 6:00 PM. You can find Madame Aroma in the Milk Bar and if you have delivered it to her personally instead of giving it to the Postman she will give you this Bottle filled with Chateau Romani for your troubles.
